Just modded my DS

Post by Guun »

Just got the M3 adapter, passcard, and 1 gig microSD card... This thing is so dope.. I just loaded advance wars, big brain academy, bomberman land touch, both castlevanias, elite beat agents (which is hard as hell), fifa 07, mario kart, mario vs dk 2, metroid prime pinball, new super mario bros, sonic rush, pheonix wright, star fox command (real dope), mario 64, tetris ds, tony hawk downhill jam, trauma center, wario ware, and yoshis island.. all on a 1 gig card with some room to spare... Shit plays every game flawlessly.. i seriously recommend anyone with a ds to pick one up.. you can also load movies and mp3's onto the card.. the only drawback is i haven't been able to get online yet.. but that's not too big of a deal.. anyone else ever do this to their ds?

Yeah, there's about a thread every two months just like this.

I haven't done it yet, but only cause I've been broke. Very soon, I'll be doing this as well.

How much did you end up spending total?

this is exactly what i ordered... http://www.modchipstore.com/NDS-Nintend ... 16416.html

i swear it was 15 bucks cheaper 2 weeks ago.. and then i just searched for a microSD card on Froogle...

They came out with a new one literally days after i ordered mine... it's called the M3 Simply... It's supposed to perform the same and it only uses one of the slots on the DS.. and wifi apparently works with that one.. cheaper too..

I'm just curious.
Yeah, I've decided that rather than just sit here and be angry about how lazy these guys are, I'm just gonna stick a paintbrush in her ass and just let it chill.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who refers to cash money as rupees these days.

The CycloDS Evolution is a slot 1 device, so it plugs into the top of your DS like any other game cart. It takes MicroSD memory cards and comes with a USB adapter so you can copy ROMs over. All you do is copy ROMs from your PC to the MicroSD card, insert that into the CycloDS, then insert that into the DS. It also allows you to run homebrew and watch media files via Moonshell media player.

The difficulty level is 0 and there is no real modding required. If you can copy files to a memory card, then you're all set, haha.

I'll post a couple of pics for you in a few minutes.

it is very simple, you just plug the devices in the game cartridge slots. No wiring or tampering with the hardware. it is all software based.

Here's a screenshot of the CycloDS working on a DS Lite. Sorry about the quality: -

You scroll through the list of games on the bottom screen (I've got 55 games on a 2GB card), and you can play them just the same as if they were originals. Download play is supported for all titles too.

If you go for the CycloDS Evolution, you can get updated firmware for it here: -

http://www.cyclopsds.com/downloads/evo- ... e-1.13.zip

Just unzip it to your memory card, insert it into the CycloDS and fire it up. It'll update the firmware for you and delete the update file from the memory card when it's done.

Instruction manual: -

http://www.cyclopsds.com/downloads/evo-manual-1.1.pdf

Moonshell Media Player: -

How to make your own skins: -

ROM trimmer: -

http://techsuki.net/nintendo-ds-rom-trimmer/

DS ROMs have their sizes rounded/padded up to 8, 16, 32, 64 or 128MB. For example, if a game is only 11MB it'll get rounded up to 16, or if it's 87MB it'll get rounded up to 128. You can use the ROM trimmer to delete the padding from the ROM so you can fit more on a memory card. I ran 5

Is there more than one version of DS? If yes, what versions of DS does this work on? I do not have a DS but this is very, very interesting to me.

Flash carts like this work on any DS. There's only 2 versions - the original "fat" DS and the DS Lite. DS games are region free, so there's no worries there either.
