Game play footage of of Portal 2 blew my mind. Starting to wonder just how complex that shit's gonna be. Bouncy splotches, vortex portals, launcher platforms... mind = blown.

Also noteworthy, they're bringing some version of Steam to the PS3.

Can't find the game play footage on YouTube yet, but I'll update this post when I see it.

this was hilarious

didn't notice the lag, weak, the 1:1 motion capture could be sick if it actually worked

yeah, it definitely wasn't one to one. You could easily tell during the "Sorcery" and "Tiger Woods Golf" demos they were doing during the press conference.

I really wondered what they could possibly do with Little Big Planet to make it any better than it already is, and I have to say, they met and exceeded my expectations.

the little big planet 2 demo at the PS press conference was probably the most impressive game there imo.

I was thinking the same thing, like they were still using the same engine they used to build Ocarina. This is my problem with Nintendo these days, I want something new, something fresh, and amazing, not a repackaging of my youth.

Imagine if Square were somehow given the right to make a Zelda game, that shit would beyond eye popping, fan boys everywhere would die of a jiz induced heart attack.

Check out "Stalker: Call of Pripyat" (post-apocalyptic FPS/RPG hybrid. Way better than Fallout 3, IMO) and "Risen" (third-person fantasy RPG)

I don't know. Zelda might be the one game where I don't want them to fuck with it too much. Just keep releasing new levels of the same kinda shit and I'm happy.

I'm all for shaking up the franchise a little bit, but this is the worst idea I've ever heard.

better graphics for one of the best franchises ever is "the worst idea you've ever heard"?

:naswtf:

If you look at where Final Fantasy has gone graphically from FF7 from blocky characters to where it is now which is basically like watching a movie, why would not want a Zelda like this?

I'm not saying they should turn Zelda into a turn based RPG, just speaking graphically, why does it still look like an N64 game?

Better graphics = great (though this is a hardware issue, not something specific to the Zelda franchise)

Allowing Square Enix anywhere near the franchise = horrendous, unforgiveable, etc.

Even their bread-and-butter (Japanese RPGs) have been mediocre for the last decade or so. They would undoubtedly fuck up an action-adventure type of game like Zelda.

Nintendo has already outsourced the franchise to Capcom for a couple of the portable Zelda games. The results were great, but they still felt like the same ol' Zelda.

I think any meaningful progress in the franchise will come in the form of things like a new setting (the medieval forests-and-castles backdrop for each game has grown stale), new fundamental gameplay shifts (such as having Hyrule be available to you as a open-world sandbox, rather than opening up pieces of it as your progress through the game linearly), even some semblance of a new narrative would make me happy at this point.

But like Moolah said, even if they change nothing, it'll still be my favorite franchise in gaming. There's no such thing as a wack Zelda game and I doubt there ever will be.

ha you guys must not remember how bad the n64 graphics were. Dude's nose was three polygons cmon. Graphics in the new one look pretty weak though, hopefully they'll step it up for the release. It looks like they're tryna make it more cartoony, not quite wind waker, but still.

Although not up to the HD standards of the 360 and PS3, I thought the graphics in the Mario Galaxies and Smash Brothers were pretty phenomenal on the Wii. If Zelda can look like that by the time it's finished, I'll have no complaints.

co-signed to the ultimate graphics do NOT make a game. Dont confuse what im saying, great art like okami or viewtiful joe can enhance a game but amazing realism for me does not make a game better unless its a sports title.

LBP was almost ruined for me by the loose controls. I really hope they tighten them up for this.
