Fixing a Motorolla Droid?

Post by The Red Scare »

So I found a Motorola Droid on a park bench yesterday. I think someone left it because it's not working properly, but I was hoping I might be able to fix it.

The problem is that when I turn it on, the phone hangs indefinitely on the Motorola logo screen. I booted into system recovery and wiped all the data and did a factory reset, but I'm still having the same problem.

Does anyone know if there's any hope in getting this thing working, or know of a website that could help? I did some searching but with no luck.

Thanks.

Turn it on while holding UP on the directional pad. If it gets into the bootloader screen, it can be fixed.

modmymobile.com (formerly modmymoto) is pretty good site.

You will likely need to re-flash it:

It was just sitting there on the bench with no one around, what can I say? I left a note with my email address if anyone came back looking for it. But like I said, the thing isn't working so they might have left it on purpose.

When I get to try to get to the bootloader, it says "Battery Low Cannot Program."

I'm having another issue now as well which might be related...I let the battery drain overnight, and now the thing won't stay powered unless it's plugged in, even if its been charging for several hours.

Thanks for the help. Maybe the problem is with the battery?

I sense Apple arrogance. No, that's what you get when you find a phone on a park bench.

When you have it plugged in, does say that it is charging?

Any Micro USB charger will not do. It likely needs to be a Motorola charger.

-Most non-Moto chargers will not charge Motorola products.
-Motorola chargers will charge just about any device

When it's plugged in, the display turns on and the Motorola logo appears. There is no battery indicator or anything like that, just the logo. So I guess perhaps it is not charging properly.

Hmmm this might be the problem. I was just using an old LG charger.

Thanks for the help bmurf

I am in here helping to resolve an issue. The information that I provided will restore that Droid back to life. I'm pretty sure of that. You, on the other hand, added nothing to this thread whatsoever and it was you started the name calling. So, start contributing and stop being a baby.

Well I was being facetious, but I'll stop since I guess it's very serious for all involved.
