getting rid of all my cds ... which format?

i'm torn between 320kbps mp3s and flac.
any suggestions?
is there anybody who can really hear the difference between flac and high quality mp3?

I dumped everything I had at 320, FLAC files are rather large unless you have a couple terabytes of space. It can be hard.

I rip all my CDs to FLAC. As long as compatibility isn't an issue, you might as well go lossless. Hard drives are cheap these days. Most of the albums on my hard drive are 300-400 MB, so even if you choose the high end of 400 MB you can still fit over 2,500 albums ripped to FLAC on a 1TB hard drive.

i have about 400 albums left ... so that would leave me with only 160 gb of material in lossless format? that shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah, it should be around that figure. Use FLAC at level 8 for the highest compression/smallest files.
