how come some of my mp3s sound like they're cracking

Post by Philaflava »

ask if i'm playing dirty vinyl. it's weird cuz i just started noticing it too. i'm playing fairly new tracks that were ripped off cd in my itunes and i swear i hear these songs cracking like i'm spinning the wax.

could it be my speakers or do programs like itunes sometimes mess up the mp3s?

It could be interference. Have you installed anything new, or maybe moved a device closer to your computer?

yousendit one of your MP3s that you hear popping, if they sound fine on another system, then it is probably your playback software/sound processor.....

i find with aesop rock 'float', any track i put on an mp3 'data' cd has the sounds you're describing, even though i'm taking it off the purchased copy of the cd.

i think it's all about the original recording of certain tracks.

Is that what it is? When I hook up my iPod in my car, The Black Album crackles just like how you mentioned. But other songs are fine. It's really odd and I thought it might be a fluke or something and that I should re-up it into itunes.

??? Maybe people don't notice it, but maybe there is a legitable problem when playing files in itune that don't meet a certain qualitification or spec.
