Sony unveils slimmer PS3: $300, lands in September

Sony got on stage today at GamesCom and confirmed what we've all knew deep down in our hearts: the new, slimmer PS3 is really real. It'll be out in the first week of September, and will retail for $300 (or 300 Euro). It's smaller and lighter, with "all the same features" of the PS3, consuming 34 percent less power and taking up 32 percent less space. Existing PS3s have their prices dropped in anticipation, so be sure to grab a space heater while you've still got a shot.

with the slimmer body, they've also stripped it of some of ports and some other capabilties...it's like buying a mercedes benz c class and trying to front like you have money...still will buy the 80 or 160 gig when can tell myself i'm going to devote time to video games and blu ray purchases.

Does it really matter what the god damn system looks like? At least it won't cause finger print marks galore like the original models.
