burning movies on a mac

for playback in regular ol' dvd players

i ripped a bunch of the kids' movies and theyve fucked up the original discs so bad they wont play
need a few burned for a road trip coming up

what software is the best?
what format should they be ripped in?
burned in?

any help is greatly appreciated

MAC the Ripper coupled with HANDBREAK is what I used. MTR doing the ripping part and Handbreak converting it to whatever format you want.

handbreak does the ripping for me fine, but ill look into mac the ripper
