Re: Video Game Of Year Nominations
skyrim is dope.
What about the new Batman game?
did LA NOIRE come out in 2012? If so, i think that should get at least an honorable mention. Visually its the shit. Really love playing the game in B&W mode.
thos are the only new release games i picked up this year. would like to check back on this thread to get some ideas as to what i should pick up next.

yeah doesn't seem like i spent that much time with anything released in 2012
gotta throw 'dishonored' in the running for best just for that reason
feel like i'm forgetting something obvious

Re: Video Game Of Year Nominations
Mass Effect 3 is a definite.
Borderlands 2
Assassin's Creed 3
Day z, even though the official version isn't out, yet.
Warriors Orochi 3
Dishonored, I suppose.
Edit: P.S. Anyone who mentions COD: BOII is getting their post edited.

Re: Video Game Of Year Nominations
2012 was probably the weakest year for new games since the XBOX 360 has been out
Re: Video Game Of Year Nominations
Still got the new Hitman game shipping out. Can't call it yet.
Dragon's Dogma is the best game of the year for me so far though.

NBA 2K13 gets a shout out for it's awesome PC port. It looks absolutely gorgeous on my gaming rig and it doesn't run like complete crap. Definitely an example to be followed by other game developers, PC ports have been pretty lame this year (I'm looking at YOU, Darksiders 2)

Re: Video Game Of Year Nominations
i've been playing it for the past week or so, and ... well ... it's too easy. also very repetitive. i admit the the game does look beautiful, and the map is massive too, but i'm afraid there's not much to do. i only just reached the werewolf killer case. does this game pick up or no?

Re: Video Game Of Year Nominations
It is good at creating a noir atmosphere that sells the time period well. The mo-cap and acting is solid, but the game is very effervescent. I liked it when I played it, but the pacing/structure is off. It remains a promising idea with good tech behind the facial expressions, but never quite congeals well enough. This is all in hindsight.ChaMerZ wrote:i've been playing it for the past week or so, and ... well ... it's too easy. also very repetitive. i admit the the game does look beautiful, and the map is massive too, but i'm afraid there's not much to do. i only just reached the werewolf killer case. does this game pick up or no?

I'll take my time with it. Maybe it will grow on me.

Re: Video Game Of Year Nominations
lol @ bumping a year old thread entitled "video game of the year nominations" to bash on a game that came out two years ago.
Re: Video Game Of Year Nominations
I'll let bygones be bygones then. On the 2013 front, what games do you feel are noteworthy? Somebody mentioned Last of Us, and I know GTA V is going to be on everybody's list, but what else? Anything niche?perabigail wrote:lol @ bumping a year old thread entitled "video game of the year nominations" to bash on a game that came out two years ago.
I probably won't play any of them because I've resigned myself from video games, but I still like keeping up on the news.
And I haven't touched LA Noire for weeks, and I probably won't until next year. I just don't care enough to slog through the cases. Graphics are bomb though.

Re: Video Game Of Year Nominations
I just bought gta v and the last of us..first new games I bought in years and both are great
scared to take gta online though
watched someone play diablo 3 for a few hours the other night, couldn't help thinking that it looks like a 10 year old game with slightly better graphics

Re: Video Game Of Year Nominations
No love for Divekick??
Anyway, it's a little too soon for this. Still to be released this year:
Batman: Arkham Origins
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus
Watch Dogs
Dead Rising 3
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
South Park: The Stick of Truth
Killer Motherfucking Instinct
EDIT: Watch Dogs delayed until the Spring.

Re: Video Game Of Year Nominations
Divekick is the fucking best. I don't necessarily think it is too early (certainly to decide anything, but not to bandy about some ideas) for this because it will likely come down to GTA V, Bioshock and The Last of Us for the top spots. The problem comes with the split gen, Watch Dogs will likely be great, but judging it is going to be different than the previously mentioned because a new generation means new thresholds and standards to look at. But yeah, those other games you mention will likely deserve some mention.
