Your Top 5 from the PS3/360 gen?
I think it warrants a bit of discussion, considering most games are going to be released on the XB1/PS4 henceforth.
I'm not sure I could come up with 5. Definitely 4:
(In no order)
Fallout
Bayonetta
Demon Souls
I'm not sure for the last 2. There are a few possibilities, some obvious. I'll think on it

I'm having a hard time choosing a final 2.
Dragon Age Origins and Red Dead are definitely in the running. Bio-shock, Ninja Gaiden 2, and Dark Souls are, as well. I actually can't decide if I like Dark Souls better than Demon's Souls.
I sctually think GTA 5 was not that incredible. They really fucked up the MP and still haven't released certain game modes that were supposed to be playable within the first month of the games release. Not to mention them taking everyone's money.

Rockstar make awesome worlds for single player. If I wanted multiplayer, I would play a different game.

GTA V
Red Dead Redemption
Super Mario Galaxy
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Bioshock
You could probably argue for the sequels of those last 3, but the first ones all blew my mind when they came out

The Last of Us (One of the greatest games ever.)
Bioshock (Original blew my mind)
Uncharted (All 3 were great)
Dead Space (The first one was dope as shit)
Call of Duty IV - Modern Warfare (They changed the game when they retired the stale WW2 shit. Game was the shit)
The single best sports franchise from 360/PS3 gen is def MLB The Show.

Also my list does not include indie/xbox live arcade/ps3 online games. Some incredibly creative and fun games came out on those sub platforms.
super meat boy
braid
limbo
fez
journey (flower and float from the same developer also very cool)
honorable mention : unfinished swan

Fair enough, though it is part of the game, and when ranking it, one must consider all aspects. If it didn't have an MP, that would be one thing, but MP has been a big part of GTA since it's 4th inception.

COD4
NBA 2K13
GTA V
God of War 3
Battlefield 3
This is tough, could swap GOW for Red Dead, Uncharted, Arkham or either Bioshock games but those are the 5 I enjoyed the most this generation.

Harold Ramis's death reminded me of how good and underappreciated the Ghostbusters game is. The main cast reprised their roles and Ramis and Aykroyd worked on the script. The banter between the Ghostbusters throughout is great and the story overall is well done. It essentially feels like the third movie. Gameplay's great too.

has any game ever fucking blown it as much as the second dragon age? great steaming pile of shit was that game a giant let down.
Re: Your Top 5 from the PS3/360 gen?
Indeed. I would put DA2 in my top 5 biggest disappointments of this past gen.
Re: Your Top 5 from the PS3/360 gen?
Bioware & EA rushed the sequel big time. Still have high hopes for Inquisition.
I would say the biggest fuck-up was Lionhead's Fable franchise, though.

Call of Duty IV - This is the Pinnacle of the Call of Duty franchise.
Metal Gear Solid 4 - I am a Metal Gear junkie. I bought a PS3 just to play this game.
Orange Box

Not an impressive / covetable title because they all look and play the same. Play the first COD & you've played them all.Random Sample wrote:Call of Duty IV - This is the Pinnacle of the Call of Duty franchise.

Re: Your Top 5 from the PS3/360 gen?
Xbox 360 only for me.
Gears of War - This is why I finally left the last gen.
COD IV: MW - My mind was blown the first time I played the sniper mission.
Bioshock - Just amazing.
Halo 3 - My favorite of all them all.
My Honorable mention: Rainbox Six: Vegas, Orange Box, Portal 2

uhhh mass effect series is like top 3 of the last 10 years
Re: Your Top 5 from the PS3/360 gen?
Off the top, my favorites (keeping in mind I only own a PS3, and haven't played TLOU or Bioshock Infinite yet):
Red Dead Redemption
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Borderlands
Portal/Portal 2
Grand Theft Auto V
Honorable mentions:
-Red Faction: Guerrilla (The PS3 game that made me truly feel like the next-gen was here... the destruction is still unmatched.)
-Skate 3 (I'm hesitant to include any sports games on a top [x] list, because they're all fairly disposable... but the Skate series turned a single handrail into an hour's worth of entertainment. Between the object dropper and the awesome environments, Skate basically allowed you to create your own fun.)
-Bioshock (On the cusp. It was between this and GTA V, and GTA took it on replay value.)

Re: Your Top 5 from the PS3/360 gen?
Skate 3 is a good one, I don't know if they belong in the top 5 but Skate 2 and 3 and Trials and it's sequel definitely got more play time for me than anything else this gen.
Though I have very little time to play games so the fact you can pick both series up for 5 minutes or play them for hours makes a difference.
Xenoblade for the wii comes to mind too but I never finished it, game is huge and again I just didn't have the time.
Everything else I would put up there has already been listed.

Re: Your Top 5 from the PS3/360 gen?
Great thread 360, been meaning to reply but time hasn't been on my side lately to give this thread proper justice. Anyway here's my top 5 in no particular order.
1. Marvel Ultimate Alliance (Xbox 360/PS3)
The FIRST game that truly let you play as pretty much all the marquee Marvel Universe characters as one collaborative team (except for Namor and Captain Marvel). And it gave players their first chance to play as an all Black superhero team (Black Panther, Luke Cage, Blade & Storm) and whoop up on the likes of Dr. Doom, The Mandarin etc. As a marvel comic head growing up this game was a true Dream come true.
2. Borderlands (Xbox 360/PS3)
An underrated banger when it first came out, 2K games didn't realize what a gem they had on their hands when they developed this. Great co-op gameplay with a nice loot specific inspired mechanics. Loved this game. Part 2 is pretty great game as well, but I feel the Developers OD'd on certain aspects. The first time experiencing this type of game was incredible.
3.SUPER STREETFIGHTER IV (and its 10+ iterations) (Xbox 360/PS3)
This game got me back in to the fighting game scene. I even hosted a Philaflava tourney here in ER. The new characters were a welcome addition, cause Abel is my nigga. Loved the new mechanics and I had endless hours of fun during online battles. Needless to say ,I'm greatly anticipating Ultra SFIV this summer.
4. Dynasty Warriors 8/XL (PS3)
Easily the best installment of this franchise during this console's generations run. Every warrior has a unique weapon/moveset, the weapon switch feature, the expanded roster. And all the issues are being rectified in the XL expansion. My favorite game series of all time, and prolly my 2nd game of the series behind DW3/XL.
5. Trinity: Souls Of Zill O'll (PS3)
Koei dropped a sleeper hit with this gem. A prequel to the game Zill O'll Infinite, that dropped in 2005. A Massive game with great action, hack and slash gameplay, really really great story with a fantasic ending. This game left a true impression on me. Also you can't hate on a game that allows you to Body slam dragons and put Giants in an armbar.
Honorable Mention: Dragon's Crown (PS3)
This game shows that 2D games are still viable and with the proper innovation, design and continued Developer support you can make a hack and slash console game as deep and engaging as regular RPGs and Action/Adventure titles. Oh yeah Sorceress tits.
