Fighting game tournaments are really the only video game based competitions I really consider akin to sporting events.

Stream monsters are all saying Daigo got eliminated by Gootecks and I can't tell whether or not they're kidding.

I still have mixed feelings on actually attending one of these major events. I went to a local tournament scene like 5 years ago and it was like a large conglomerate of the socially awkward. Smelly gamers, and very little female fans. Shit was kinda wack.

yea I agree with this, it takes a dedicated level of physical dexterity and mental aptitude to compete at the top level

he's a replay of SMUG's Dudley yesterday during the USFIV pools

I honestly feel its going to be hard to top the excitement and skill that we witnessed yesterday.

BlazBlue grand finals: craziest thing I've ever seen. Like every inspirational sports movie times a thousand. Astonishing. Fuck.

EDIT:

Worth watching the whole thing if you've got the time.

Yeah Marvel was fun to watch. I've soured on the game quite a bit, but the Evo top four rarely disappoints and it was great seeing Justin wreck shit without Doom, Vergil, etc.

Was sad to see Snake Eyes get bumped but am really happy for Luffy. Godlike Rose play. Hope Gootecks was taking notes.

USA needs to step its shit up for next year.

That Blazblue shit was insane. Especially losers finals DoraBang vs the crying guy who won.

I still have to watch USF4 and UMVC3 from yesterday, but a pad player winning USF4 hurts really bad.

Missed Blazblue finals, gonna have to make time for those.

USFIV and UMVC3 top 8s were clutch as fuck. Luffy played out of his mind and Snake Eyez is on some whole new other shit with his Zangief. There were a ton of blowups in SF, wish we could have seen more of them on stream. Where any of Infiltration's losses recorded? Sad to see Daigo out early, but not unexpected due to his switch to Evil Ryu. He'll be back on his game in a couple more months anyway.

Last three matches of Marvel were unreal. Super glad to see Justin take UMVC3, even happier to see Filipino Champ lose. Was cool to see Ray and Insaynne make top 8, even though they had to play each other in the first round. Top 8 placing in Steve's first trip to Evo is not shabby at all.

Goddamn that is a high ass prize pool for Blazblue.

So many good matches happened off stream. Daigo's losses, Infiltration's losses, Mike Ross killing shit with Honda. The only matches I remember from what was streamed were Snake Eyez v. Xian and KojiKOG going ham with T. Hawk. I really don't get it, since both the second SRK stream and Capcom Fighters weren't being used during much of pool play. Why not utilize all your streams to broadcast as much as possible? They're going to have to take a look at that, especially as Evo keeps growing year by year.

I went this year, shit is full of a bunch of smelly gamers and their girlfriends they dragged to Vegas. It was incredibly fun, but only if you're planning to drink and do Vegas-y shit in between shit you want to watch. Watching the BlazBlue and UMVC3 Grand Finals were so hype! Really incredible. Although having to sit through any Smash Bros. was fucking interminable, but you don't want to lose good seats on Day 3.
