Favorite HD Re-Release?

Post by Tommy Bunz »

HD Rereleases are probably my favorite new videogame trend.
Pick your favorite from the List.
If I forgot your favorite game, before you bitch just remember that no one cares about your feelings.

The Winder Waker and Final Fantasy X HD Remasters have the most work put into them and look the best, but my favorite is Shadow of the Colossus and Ico HD Collection.

I played ICO mostly because it's a game I'd always wanted to play, and it ties in with SotC in some small ways. It's a good game, but it's dated. Even in the remastered version, the movements and combat are clunky, and some of the character models are a little blocky. Still, it's the only game I've played so far that does "Escort/protect your companion" gameplay right.

But Shadow of the Colossus. Shadow. of. the. Colossus. This game is just beautiful. It looked and felt like a game made for the PS3 generation. It's almost 9 years old, and it's still ahead of its time. I can't think of a game I'd rate above it.

...and we're never going to get a sequel. We'll never have another game like Shadow of the Colossus. :owens:

The combat and movements never bothered me in ICO...you're an awkward young boy with horns dragging around an even smaller person, it actually adds to the experience that you have to flail wildly to fight the shadow creatures, and that it seems like it takes a lot of effort just to move around. If he was doing precise platforming movements with great fighting skills the game would make less sense. One of my favorite gaming experiences ever. Windmill puzzle blew my mind the first time around.

Sadly, I'm not sure if we're ever going to see Team ICO's 3rd game The Last Guardian at this point.

If it isn't at Tokyo Game Show in September then it is safe to say we never will. That would be a damn shame too.
