Post by Tired & Broke »

I'm also doing a poll for most embarrassing blunder or scandal in the Electronic field.... such as

- Ubisoft fucking up bad with AC: Unity
- GamerGate :fail:
- M$ dropping the price rapidly on the Xbone and changing their whole steez by selling kineticless units
- Rock$tar still not releasing the fucking Heists :jaz:

feel free to add on dudebros....

NBA 2K15 server issues/WoW server issues/AC Unity stuff/DriveClub...pretty much any thing involving online infrastructure not being ready for launch is a big blunder.

Delays upon delays (while this is fine in hindsight given the strength of many of the holiday releases, it was annoying to see so many games get pushed to 2015).

But for real, GamerGate is the worst shit ever.

also almost every AAA major release being buggy/nonfunctional/online server issues etc etc.
these companies are all about pre order numbers, but what benefit do u get from pre ordering? u pay a premium for the game, and it doesnt even work. and by the time they get everything fixed, the game costs half as much.

i hate the invention of DLC. it started out as a great idea, but it qas quickly butchered into something that now they make the game, and then they chop it up into little pieces and decide how much we can take out and charge extra as DLC. capcom is the worst. fuck that company.

It's impossible that all these launch bugs for all these games weren't found by QA. Publishers don't give a fuck anymore. "Just get it on the shelves as soon as possible and patch it later" is a strategy that'll probably come back to bite them once people realize how pointless preordering has become.

This. I have read at least a dozen articles on gamergate and I still have no fucking idea what it is except I hate every one involved. I hate "gamers" because well they are horrible people. Yet the Capt Save a Hos have been as bad.

It really does suck. As someone who's been in a situation where I had to produce a product before a deadline, it sucks that the big suits have no appreciation for or sensitivity to the actual work that the programmers / artists do. It's usually a matter of get it by the deadline, when the focus should be on producing a quality product.

I will do my best. Most of the online game sites at least the big ones are pay for play in that they take bribes (ad dollars) to give good reviews. On top of that many of the top ones (Polygon and Kotaku comes to mind) might as well be a Womans and Genders Study department. These sites love to talk about how awful and sexist gamers are and the industry is and give reach around for "games" that have the "correct" message even though they are fucking awful games.

That is the back ground I think. Probably a lot more to it.

Ok fast forward the maker of one of these awful fucking "games"* fucks apparently half the indy game industry and her boyfriend tweets about it. So gamer starts to think he is detective. Well the game press pretends nothing is wrong. And of course Gamer being Gamer goes Gamer and starts dropping rape and death threats. Basically everyone involved in this story is a horrible human being and deserve each other.

I am probably way to nice to gamer in this mostly because fuck anyone that wants to take away me shooting people for a few hours a week with friends. Games rarely transcend the medium and for good reason Valiant Hearts kind of blows as an actual form of interaction. If I want a indepth story I read a book or watch a movie.

*If these games did not have the "correct" message these same reviewers would be blasting this for the bullshit it is.

While I disagree with the tone, that is a fairly decent summation of the issue. Mainly it is a bunch of whiny, entitled pissbabies masquerading their cause under the need for journalistic ethics in video game journalism. In reality, it is a way to be a shitty human being, justify the shitty behaviors the video game industry perpetuates in video games (and behaviors that are core to them indicative of death and rape threats) and act like any call for change in those behaviors is social activism and has no place in video games.

You are letting the other side off way to easy. Again you don't have to do much to get me to say gamers are the worst but in Gamer Gate there are no winners every one is a fucking loser. The press going all capt save a ho and pretending there is no issues on their own end. That woman that made a mint on kickstarter to bash videogames is just an awful fucking person. I mean shit they bitch about a guys shirt and claim that is why woman are not in science.

This thread is currently illustrating why GamerGate wins this thread.

...though UbiSoft in general has a pretty strong claim to victory. Watch_Dogs was released looking nothing like the trailers, AC: Unity is chock full of microtransactions and bugs, UPlay is the bane of PC gamers' existence, Far Cry 4 is triggering trophy unlocks for other games on the PS4... they're not having a good year.

here's a great article that goes in depth on gamergate

http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/20 ... deo-games/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

personally the most egregious thing to me about the whole thing was that whore Zoe fucking for reviews, then getting one of the hacker groups to go and delete all her past porn work she had did (yeah this trollop did smut pics)

As far as DriveClub when it dropped it had all types of colossal server issues.
all other blunder are pretty self explanatory of have already been discussed.

I'm pretty sure it's been established that the journalist she slept with never even reviewed her game(s), hence from the Forbes article, "While the initial concerns were quickly proven to be all smoke and no fire..."

Nobody looks good in this whole mess, though.
