miller's crossing, la confidential, bound << in that exact order

the rest are obv nothing to sneeze at either, but those 3 are my favorites. i'd argue that Miller's and La confidential are objectively the best of this whole lot too

I love The Usual Suspects, Miller's Crossing, Se7en and LA Confidential but I had to go with the Usual Suspects.
All four of those are top 30 movies all time for me.

it did win 2 oscars and was nominated for a bunch more including best picture, but it did also seem to sort of fall by the wayside in the public mind over the years

still, forgotten or not, if you don't have this one in your top 10-20 of the 90s you're seriously fucking up

I went with Seven, but I just as easily could have voted for LA Confidential. The old dude from Babe fucking destroyed that shit.

Voted One False Move. In no way is it better than a jawn like Miller's Crossing or The Usual Suspects. Not even close. But Billy Bob Thornton is the zenith of white trash culture in it. He legitimately looks like a hardcore, violent cokehead. I've also watched One False Move on cable mad times. The last twenty minutes are melodramatic and gay, but it is far and away my favorite (probably because it is melodramatic and gay).

Shout out to The Limey, though. I bought it on DVD for $2 and it was a terrific investment. Terence Stamp is pitch perfect and Peter Fonda is a surprisingly effective villain.

Bound is one of the most tense movies I have seen, and seems really rewatchable. Maybe a bit of a pity vote going against some of these juggernauts, but it's a great example of simplicity done right
