for sure. there's all sorts of loopholes. Not the kind of movie you want to obsess over details about  I had fun though. Glad I saw it on the big screen. "THIS IS FOR MY FAMAREE!" had me dead though

Adam Sandler's sequel was savaged by most reviewers -- including our featured critic Eric Snider -- and still did quite well, with an estimated $42.5 million, close behind the second weekend of Despicable Me 2, which grossed $44.8 million. But Pacific Rim wasn't far behind, taking in $38.3 million.
not bad, not a total wipeout like was predicted

It was terrible for me. I've yet to see a 3D film and enjoy it.

Would have rather saved the cash and gone 2D.

yea i'm doing some quick research on this and 3d seems superfluous, there's even a site that ranks effectiveness of 3d for individual movies and this shit got 22/35

It wasn't shot in 3D. It looks solid, but if you aren't a 3D fan I wouldn't bother. I would have rather seen it in 2D. (not a 3D fan)

saw 2d and don't regret it at all, aside from maybe the scene in the alien world

loved the shit out of what i saw on screen but thought the movie hit at maybe 85-90% of its potential overall

it needed one more proper full fight scene. that's my biggest gripe. its 2+ hrs long and only has 3 full fight scenes, there's room for another one. i actually enjoyed the bulk of the plot parts for what they were, but at around half point the dramatic stuff started to feel a little long. more action in the first half would've fixed that

less significantly, the last monster wasn't really as crazy as the end boss should be imo. the kaiju in general could've been a little crazier, especially considering this is a Del Toro jawnt. needed more cool powers like the EMP fart and the acid tongue flower. the nods to classic kaiju from godzilla movies were cool, but still they started to feel samey in the end.

my expectations to this were insanely high and the movie did a reasonable job meeting them, i'm not mad at all. i just want more

all that being said, the HK scene was absolutely perfect and that alone covers any other criticism. its worth the ticket to just see that

There was pressure from the studio to dial back the craziness of some of the designs. Not a huge loss mostly, but there was a really awesome one that got cut.

this + dull/bland characters + ID4 act three rerun = a solid but kind of forgettable summer movie.

really? didnt get that at all, in fact it was a pleasant change from what we saw from shitty Transformers.

the characters were definitely crap though, but it's not like I was expecting much in that department

I thought the fight scenes were a lot like Transformers...I had no idea which robot was which during the 2 monsters vs Russian and Australian fight. I wanted a wide shot of the fights for at least a little bit.

yeah also
the biggest scene was some sort of wwf royal rumble garbage. i feel like they missed a great opportunity to go all out in scale. where the fuck are the 10 mechs vs 6 crazy monsters fights? where are the 30 vs 30 fights?

also it didnt make sense to me that they could build a mech that could stand up in a fist fight with those monsters like no big deal. ideally idve wanted the mechs to be all tricked out and actually different and i thought the variation of the monsters wasnt that great either and that was disappointing. i mean most of the fights are literally about watching big things deliver haymakers and roll out of the hit. sort of lacking in that sense.

Saw it and enjoyed. It's a simple, basic action flick. All the characters have easily been done before and all the dialog has been said before. But the fight scenes were fantastic, the backstory was doable and it was by no means sappy beyond what it had to be.

I saw it in 2D and that was fine with me.

I would've like more battle sequences, but I imagine that's what takes up the bulk of their budget.
Crimson Typhoon and Cherno Alpha didn't get very much screen time, that was a little disappointing.
But overall it was a good summer action flick. Jax wasn't nearly as bad as I thought he might be, although he didn't look right without AF1s.
I hope Stringer continues to be in everything, he is awesome.

saw this earlier today in standard. Was contemplating watching it in imax 3D but glad I didn't. Don't see how much 3D can add to this, 2D was just fine by me. IMO best action flick thus far this summer. Let's see if Wolverine can top it next week. I didn't have a hard time following the fight sequences at all, thought they were pretty straight forward. Hong Kong battle was ill as others have mentioned.
