Gravity (Dir: Alfonso Cuaron, S: Clooney, Bullock)

Re: Gravity (Dir: Alfonso Cuaron, S: Clooney, Bullock)
damn that looks scary
Re: Gravity (Dir: Alfonso Cuaron, S: Clooney, Bullock)
I really hope I'm wrong but this looks like a potential skank movie; being that the trailer is based on the first fifteen minutes of the film and the rest is Sandra Bullock drifting through space, reflecting on life with flashbacks (first kiss etc) and all that shit, before she bites the dust.

was this shot in 3d or converted after? this definitely has potential to be really dope, at least visually, in imax 3d
Re: Gravity (Dir: Alfonso Cuaron, S: Clooney, Bullock)
Sounded cool until I found out about Sandra Bullock.

I'm in, looks dope, but I'm guessing that's all the action we'll see and the rest will be a meditative reflection on her life while she's drifting thru space

Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity is called astonishing and brilliant after first Venice Film Festival screening

Alfonso Cuaron has earned the respect of the average movie fan and cinephiles alike for his outstanding filmography to date. Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN and CHILDREN OF MEN alone are pinnacles of his talent, but Cuaron was even able to take the HARRY POTTER franchise out of the realm of movies for kids and into a quality series for adults as well. Never one to rest on his laurels, Cuaron has returned to innovating the world of film with his latest, GRAVITY.
We have all seen the trailers and clips released so far for the 3D outer space thriller. I have been in awe of what looks like a completely unique movie-going experience. I cannot wait to see it. Some lucky folks got the chance during the film's first screening in advance of the Venice Film Festival and the results are better than I had hoped. Deadline reports that the words "brilliant" and "astonishing" have been thrown around already. GRAVITY may indeed be the film atop many top ten lists at the end of the year.
Here is more reaction from some of the top websites who have seen it:
The Hollywood Reporter
“At once the most realistic and beautifully choreographed film ever set in space. An elegant film that will have buffs and casual fans alike gaping and wondering, “How did they do that?” “
Variety
“The script modulates the tension expertly, deftly preying on the claustrophobic and the agoraphobic alike, and maintaining an unflagging sense of peril as it carefully throws Stone (Bullock) one lifeline after another.”
Empire
“Now that the embargo is up, I can say that what Jaws did for water, Gravity does for air. What surprised me was how much of an action flick Gravity is. Non-stop, no-nonsense. It's Speed in space. Hugely entertaining.”
More and more is likely to be said about the film and likely not nearly as positive, but these reviews are bordering on acclaim rather than middle of the road. Many readers have complained about Sandra Bullock being the lead, but she may have found a role for film fans to get excited about. I want to see just how amazing this film looks in 3D. Cuaron met with James Cameron to ensure he was getting it perfect. If this is the closest I will get to space travel, I am glad it is coming from a filmmaker I respect.
GRAVITY opens everywhere on October 4, 2013.

James Cameron said this about it

I was stunned, absolutely floored. I think it’s the best space photography ever done, I think it’s the best space film ever done, and it’s the movie I’ve been hungry to see for an awful long time.

Re: Gravity (Dir: Alfonso Cuaron, S: Clooney, Bullock)
I decided against seeing it in IMAX since there weren't any scenes shot using an IMAX camera. Figured it was just a ploy to get more money out of people. Went for just the 3-D instead. Now that I've seen it, I could definitely see the advantages of watching it in IMAX. It looked great on the traditional screen, but that must've been phenomenal on an even bigger screen.

Movie was mindblowing. Absolutely beautiful and insanely intense at points. You don't ever even think about CGI as you're watching. The 3D parts are done so well too without feeling like a gimmick or just tacked on. There's no way I'll ever understand how he achieved some of those shots.
See it in IMAX 3D if at all possible. You won't regret it.
