Loved it. As I have read other places, it is basically Goodfellas redone, but you will not get any complaining from me on that. DiCaprio & Jonah Hill were as good as advertised. DiCaprio's physical work is nuts.

My only beef is that I sat next to some middle aged guy who laughed and/or moaned with pleasure at every bare tit and sex scene, and there were plenty. It was like sitting next to a 12 year old seeing his first R rated movie. Kept looking over at his wife and her friend doing the "Can you believe this hon?" thing. May I die before I become that guy.

Sex stuff was cool sitting in between my parents. Especially the last one. Yeesh.

Agreed on the physical front. The country club scene was amazing.

fuck Jonah hill being Jonah hill. "bro, you gay bro? bro?" shit is for 2013 bro bros not 80s/90s dudes. also a couple scenes seemed to go off the rails a bit with improv. good movie, sloppy for Scorsese, country club scene probably gonna be iconic.

like everyone else said, really enjoyable. i should have stayed out of the thread because i kept waiting for this "country club" scene to be an orgy out a Vivid video. Kinda long but didn't seem to drag too much. Hill really killed it. Shane from Walking D killed it. The fat guy turn slim was a nice entourage buddy but Leo really solidified his spot as the best current living actor.

Not sure if its a movie I want to watch over and over again like Goodfellas, mainly because it lacked that memorable dialog or icy scenes but it is Marty's best work since Gangs of New York IMO. Also, Terence Winter brought in some friends from Boardwalk which was a nice surprise too.

felt like they coulda chopped a good half hour off. there were a few drawn out scenes where i got taken out of the movie because i was thinking about the editing choices (the minute long slow mo shot where Leo is on the phone, not even in focus, and Hill is behind him excited while some song plays all loud sticks out in my head as a pointless).

as far as best work since GONY, i think on first impression i liked the departed a bit more. still glad i saw it in theaters, just make sure you piss while the previews are playing, cuz 3 hours and a large soda is a real test of fortitude.

enjoyable overall though, will probably watch it again when it drops on dvd.

upon reflection i really only have one problem with this movie and its actually kind of itching me right now
the very very end. when hes giving the speech. they pan up to the audience who adores him. i get it but it feels so wrong. they shouldve prepped something like that earlier. the voyeuristic camera angles dont shed enough skin if that makes sense.

Thought this was an absolutely ridiculous movie that managed to have no likeable characters. No character arcs, just debauchery from start to finish.

The editing was really bad, there were horrible continuity problems all over the place. The classic person still talking during the over the shoulders when there's silence, and a phantom cardboard box that comes out of nowhere in the scene were Leo finally decides to go rat come to mind, but there were plenty of others. Also, this should have been about an hour shorter.

Jonah Hill was really good in this despite all the "bros", DiCaprio really did a great job portraying the lead character, but again, he just plays the same guy throughout the story without any character arc at all. I thought the country club scene - while hilarious - was almost a short film within the greater film. Movie needed more McConaughey.

How about showing some more of the police officer's back story, and show some of the people that these guys duped to drive home the reality of what they were doing? Instead, the audience is sort of encouraged to cheer for these douche bags because we don't really see the other side of it. This is sure to be the new favorite frat guy film. This is a very middling Scorsese flick.

after working in the industry for 2 years, and 4 years of a finance degree, i can already foresee about 12 conversations where old friends take this movie in the wrong way.

saw it over the weekend. good movie- agree that it was fun and the performances were on point throughout but it definitely could have been about 20-30 mins shorter. Also, I thought it lost steam toward the end. The buildup of the company and of Leo turning into this egomaniac/addict/douche was always entertaining no matter how long some of the scenes or plot points were, but once shit started to hit the fan the movie wasn't as fun or interesting. Maybe that all goes without saying but I don't remember feeling that way in Casino or Goodfellas.

I loved the movie, but I feel I'm a bit biased since the subject matter is basically 100% tailor made for me

One complaint: I felt like Leo having the complete adoration of everyone in his company was unrealistic... Within any group there's gonna be a power struggle somewhere, that's just human nature

Out of all of the movies I've seen that tackle wall street, this is my fav. right now. The maniacal behavior and cult like setting for ripping people off was pure genius. I like movies thar have a pretty hardcore edge so Im not gonna walk out on it. If you cant stomach shit like that, this movie is not for you.

dunno, it's 2hr45min with the credits cut, and everything that's been talked about here so far was in it, and i didn't notice any plot gaps. i understood the story.
but, nobody has to get the bootleg if they don't want to.
