yeah i am overreacting. my point is i like to speculate about plot developments. it's easy for someone with knowledge of future events in the book to tip off whether it's right or wrong, kinda ruins it for me but perhaps i'm being selfish.

anyway i'm thinking having oberyn as a judge is gonna save tyrion. what i'm wondering about is whether tywin chose him because of this. my guess is in the affirmative; tywin protects all lannisters, and he may have special need of tyrion now that he seems to have given up hope on jaime.

and what's tywin's take on the incest anyway? obv he's hip to it, and i know he rides hard for the lannisters, but ...

every writeup or review of episodes that include jamie now references "that scene" and how its indecipherable or confusing as to how the rape affected how the audience and/or cersei are supposed to feel about him. I think that based on how the book readers said it was consensual and less rapey in the book and how the director of "that scene" tried to act like it changed from non to consensual mid rape, it appears, at least based on the most recent episode, that the show will treat the rape as more consensual than it appeared on screen. I didn't get the vibe last night that Jamie was to be seen as a bad guy rapist, especially with how he did good deeds throughout the episode (went to visit Tyrion, tried to tell Cersei Tyrion didn't really kill joff dog, got based Pod and Brienne out of Kings Landing to find Sansa, etc)

I'm one of the most qualified posters to speak on this. Ever since "the scene" aired I have maintained it was a clear cut #wetandmoaning situation and defs not rape. Go back and watch it again (I have multiple times), its subtle, but cersei is both a) wet -we know this due to the ease at which jamie penetrates her, no saliva or other lubrication was necessary (also shes crying, so..double wet) and b) moaning -she moans slightly in pleasure near the end, before that its mostly just heavy breathing. Also if we examine the history of their relationship, jamie and cersei have been engaging in intercourse for YEARS therefore making it impossible for a true rape to occur.

Another compelling piece of evidence which supports my case (as if the #wetandmoaning defense wasn't overwhelming enough on its own) is the fact that cersei actually initiates things by kissing jamie. by kissing him, by initiating the physical affection, she is giving jamie the green light to have his way with her. what else is a man supposed to think, when the woman who he has been regularly fucking for years starts kissing him?

A point of contention arises when we examine the dialogue they have. Cersei says things like "stop it" and "its not right." Imo, the "stop it" was her kneejerk reaction, the token resistance most females give before lovemaking happens in an inappropriate/public locale. the "its not right" is in reference to the fact that they are having sex in a holy room next to their dead child. jamie does the right thing by ignoring the things her mouth is saying, and instead paying attention to the resounding "YES" that her body is saying.

FINAL VERDICT: CONSENSUAL AKA NOT RAPE.

as for jaime: since I' assuming the whole rest of the book is written based on him not raping, it only make sense to consider the character as a non rapist from now on. this is not excusing his actions last ep -- which were clearly rape -- but only acknowledging the mistake of a careless director.

my read is that jaime is a good guy now. i think he's out to help sansa. he's the fallen & brianne is the shining white knight. you can see his look of shame when she names the sword 'oathkeeper'. his struggle is now for redemption.

I thought it was well placed and effective. Sort of showed his attempt at transitioning to his former self and then being humbled and humiliated by the rejection, reverts back to his new found soft side. He's still a bad ass though.
