This fuckin show! I knew that Oberyn beating the Mountain like that was too easy for this show, and that someone was going to die. But like that? I couldn't get that picture out of my head last night. The cut away from the surrender to an eyeballless corpse and skinned torso was timed well.

for a show with many memorable plot developments and scenes already under its belt, i feel like last night's ending may have been the most visually striking and type of thing that stays with you long after its over that the series has done thus far. seriously insane.

i had the same question as blockhead- for instance, if the sword/staff/dagger etc that oberyn used had poison on it or the wounds inflicted on the mountain wind up making him die, just after oberyn, is there anyway that the trial by combat does not result in tyrion losing/dying? i know it seems pretty straight forward that tyrion is going to be killed but im hoping theres an out. fuckin GRRM may be too gully for that though.

may have been one of the best eps of the series period, for a bunch of reasons.

the fight scene played better on screen than on the page, which isn't really surprising but it's always nice to see the show take the source and make something more out of it exactly in the way that a moving image is theoretically supposed to elevate words

even aside from that though, Sansa slowly growing under Littlefinger's tutelage, Arya's laugh, the tie up of the Boltons/Reek subplot, all played ace

even the retarded missundies/grey warm twigs and pebbles nonsense was totally worth it for the nuditay. been waiting for those things to fly free since this gif

the execution of the key points was very faithful, it was just way more exciting and suspenseful to see this shit happen live as opposed to reading it. the books are great for getting inside characters heads in a way that's impossible on screen without hours of voice over, but conversely you can never describe the sound of a scull exploding in writing with amount of visceral kick in the balls you get from actually hearing it.
