Re: Game of Thrones - Season 4
so how much of this season (so far) is off from the books? i thought season 4 was suppose to be there one where they really deviate.

Re: Game of Thrones - Season 4
They've changed a lot but I gotta give them credit, they've always managed to keep the general gist of the original and some of their changes have actually streamlined the story for the better. The changes are more often in the details and side-plots, all the really big plot events are generally the same as in the books.
They've added exactly one thing that seems like it will be important going forward and has absolutely no correlation in the books, I wasn't crazy about it but I think it was a preparation on their part to lap the book plot in the next few seasons. There's no way Martin will write fast enough to stay ahead of the show.
The only really poorly done change was the Jaime/Cercei sex scene which has absolutely no rapey overtones in the book. But even that served the purpose of emphasizing the rift between the two characters, which is totally in line with the book.

Re: Game of Thrones - Season 4
holy shit what a bummer. i mean i said before that Oberyn will not win, but when he had had him on the floor I thought I was wrong. thought the hound would face off the maountain later on but I wouldnt be mad if the mountain was dead. we'll see in the next episode I hope. Tyrion will not live longer than this season I'm a 100 percent sure of that.

So Gummo was actually an autobiographical film about growing up in the Vale?

I specifically stated what wasn't in the book that we've seen so far this season? I don't think that is against the rules.

Re: Game of Thrones - Season 4
You would be Renly Baratheon.
Re: Game of Thrones - Season 4
One difference I heard today that bummed me out was, apparently, Joff dawg actually dies clawing his own throat out with his nails. Why in the fuck would they choose not to put that in the show?!!!drizzle wrote:the execution of the key points was very faithful, it was just way more exciting and suspenseful to see this shit happen live as opposed to reading it. the books are great for getting inside characters heads in a way that's impossible on screen without hours of voice over, but conversely you can never describe the sound of a scull exploding in writing with amount of visceral kick in the balls you get from actually hearing it.Philaflava wrote:what was the diff from the book vs the show regarding the fight?
This last episode was fucking phenomenal though. Definitely did not see that coming. Although, even if the Mountain does survive somehow miraculously, I'm pretty sure Oberyn had already made plans to fuck that fool up regardless of the outcome because he seemed pretty determined to see that mufucka die lol.
Re: Game of Thrones - Season 4
from what i've read in the tv listings I believe the next episode will likely all occur at the wall and be the battle between the wildlings and the night's watch. I think we have to wait 2 weeks for any follow up on other storylines.

Re: Game of Thrones - Season 4
it's gonna be a let down after that epic battle. the night's watch story line has been dragging all year, not enough time talking about the Dragons & King's Landingsamdoom wrote:from what i've read in the tv listings I believe the next episode will likely all occur at the wall and be the battle between the wildlings and the night's watch
