The biggest question is, Carl has barely even been in the Walking Dead this season? Can he hold his faggot crown even when he's not even there to defend it?
I think yes.

Also, try to save any serious discussion for the year end forum. We're mostly looking for lists of nominations.

Nominations for the Carl award are especially appreciated, since I don't watch every popular show.

Some suggestions:

New drama: Gomorrah

Foreign/Indie: Enemy, The Strange Color of Your Body's Tears, Why Don't You Play In Hell?, Killers, Wolf, Like Father Like Son, Nymphomaniac + Blue Ruin, Rover, Under the Skin

Some of those could be put in the Drama poll. The Raid 2 in the Action poll for sure.

Horror: Dead Snow 2, The Babadook, In Darkness We Fall, Starry Eyes, The Dead 2, Among the Living, Cheap Thrills(?), Wolf Creek 2 - there's a few more candidates I haven't seen yet but not a lot of obvs choices.

Good. Always need input for the horror poll. I had Cheap Thrills in the comedy column, haven't watched it yet though. You think it belongs in the horror category?
The Purge: Anarchy and The Sacrament to round out the poll?

Purge is more of an actionfilm maybe but IDK if that category is full (EDIT: Agree w/ drizzle then). Cheap Thrills is prob better placed in Comedy - wasn't sure myself.

In Darkness We Fall hasn't been released yet, I see now - no point including it.

The Sacrament prob should be in it. I'm checking out a few other horrormovies from this year in the next few days

Action movie poll is already 10-15 movies deep and thats not even including the major franchise movies. Great year for action films.

Really ought to add The Strange Color of Your Body's Tears in either any possible WTF/Experimental or Horror movie poll.

Surprised I'm the only one saying Llewyn Davis. People didn't think this was a masterpiece?

It was actually in last years poll, but it was probably premature to put it in there as I don't think many people had seen it at that point.

Oh really? Yeah, it came out at the very end of the year and it was a limited release, so I doubt most people saw it until this year. I'd like to see it go up again.

It didn't open wide until January of this year.

It's a top 4 Cohen movie (and rising) in my book and I'll vote for it if it's there, just didn't know if it'd be eligible or not.

"Inside Llewyn Davis "was fine, but hardly a masterpiece imo. Same with "Blue Ruin", I'd rate it slightly above mediocre. Took a well worn premise and didn't really do anything new with it. Don't understand the love, feels like an emperors new clothes situation.

My favorites so far: Under the Skin, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Rover, Grand Budapest Hotel, The Lego Movie, Calvary, Enemy (if that counts as 2014)
Styles can be applied quickly to selected text.

a bumbling nearly inept avenger who's actually kind of a pussy, but not to a comical mocking extent, is a pretty neat twist on the revenge formula. the scene where he tries to patch himself up in a typical action badass way but can't bring himself to stitch the wound so he just gives up and goes to the hospital is key to what the movie is going for. the theme of the cyclical violence and how the dude's fumbling only serves to make things worse was handled pretty well too, with real resonance as opposed to just creating opportunities to show more people die. and the execution is really solid, a lot of subtle touches that don't really stand out immediately but add a lot.

it's not the kind of thing that blows your mind as you're watching it, but many months after seeing it the movie is still strongly impressed into my memory while a bunch of others i saw this year are already nearly forgotten.
