New TV Shows Premiering This Month (June)
Here’s what’s premiering for the month of June.
The Whispers (ABC)
We love to play games with our children. But what happens when someone else starts to play with them too? Someone we don't know. Can't see. Can't hear. In The Whispers, someone — or something — is manipulating the ones we love most to accomplish the unthinkable. (Premieres June 1st)
UnREAL (Lifetime)
Set against the backdrop of the hit dating competition show Everlasting, UnREAL is led by flawed heroine Rachel Goldberg (Shiri Appleby), a young producer whose sole job is to manipulate her relationships with, and among, the contestants to get the vital dramatic and outrageous footage that the program’s dispassionate executive producer, Quinn King (Constance Zimmer), demands. What ensues is an eye-opening look at what happens in the outrageous world of unscripted television, where being a contestant can be vicious and being a producer a whole other reality. (Premieres June 1st)
Stitchers (ABC Family)
Stitchers follows Kirsten (Emma Ishta), a young woman recruited into a covert government agency to be ‘stitched’ into the minds of the recently deceased, using their memories to investigate murders and decipher mysteries that otherwise would have gone to the grave. Working alongside Kirsten is Cameron (Kyle Harris), a brilliant neuroscientist whose passion for the program is evident in his work. The secret program is headed by Maggie (Salli Richardson-Whitfield), a skilled veteran of covert operations, and includes Linus (Ritesh Rajan), a socially immature bioelectrical engineer and communications technician. Kirsten’s roommate, Camille (Allison Scagliotti), a gifted computer science grad student, is also recruited to use her skills to assist Kirsten in her new role as a stitcher. (Premieres June 2nd)
Sense8 (Netflix)
One gunshot, one death, one moment out of time that irrevocably links eight minds in disparate parts of the world, putting them in each other's lives, each other's secrets, and in terrible danger. Ordinary people suddenly reborn as "Sensates." (Premieres June 5th)
Becoming Us (ABC Family)
Becoming Us follows Ben, an ordinary Midwestern teenager, going through a unique situation. After his parents’ recent divorce, Ben learned that his dad is transitioning into a woman. (Premieres June 8th)
Odd Mom Out (Bravo)
A New Yorker through and through, Jill Weber (Jill Kargman) embraces her quirky and somewhat unconventional life with her loving husband, Andy Weber (Andy Buckley, The Office), three great kids, and a best friend who shares the same love for donuts and snarky retorts, Vanessa Wrigley (KK Glick, College Humor). However, the posh and decadent world of Andy's classically blue-blooded family slowly takes over as Jill valiantly tries to resist all the delicious temptations and perks their wealth can afford. From accepting her in-laws' aristocratic, and perhaps cloudy, legacy to interviewing for a family burial plot at the most prestigious cemetery, Jill constantly battles staying true to herself while weighing the benefits of fitting in. Jill's frenemies and in-laws only fuel the pressure for her to conform, including the status-obsessed Weber family matriarch, Candace (Joanna Cassidy, Six Feet Under), brother-in-law Lex (Sean Kleier, Madam Secretary) and his wife, Brooke (Abby Elliott, Saturday Night Live), who reigns over a group of quintessential Upper East Side mombots with an iron credit card. (Premieres June 8th)
Dark Matter (Space/Syfy)
The crew of a derelict spaceship is awakened from stasis with no memories of who they are or how they got on board. Facing threats at every turn, they have to work together to survive a voyage charged with vengeance, betrayal and hidden secrets. (Premieres June 12th)
Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell (BBC America)
Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell is set during the Napoleonic Wars in an England where magic once existed and is about to return. So begins a dangerous battle between two great men. Eddie Marsan (Ray Donovan, The World’s End), Olivier award-winning Bertie Carvel (Restless, Matilda), Charlotte Riley (Wuthering Heights, Easy Virtue), and Alice Englert (Ginger & Rosa, Beautiful Creatures) star in the seven-part mini-series, which has been adapted from Susanna Clarke’s bestselling novel by Peter Harness (Wallander, Doctor Who) and directed by Toby Haynes (Sherlock, Doctor Who).
1806. England is beleaguered by the long war with Napoleon and centuries have passed since practical magicians faded into the nation’s past. However, scholars of this glorious history discover that one remains — the reclusive and skillful Mr Norrell (Marsan). His displays of magic soon thrill the nation. In London, he raises the beautiful Lady Pole (Englert) from the dead and summons an army of ghostly ships to terrify the French.
Soon the cautious and fussy Norrell is challenged by the emergence of another magician: the brilliant novice Jonathan Strange (Carvel). While trying to secure his beloved Arabella’s (Riley) hand in marriage, he meets a vagabond, the magician of Threadneedle Street, Vinculus (Paul Kaye, Game of Thrones, Stella), who tells him he is destined to be a great magician. Young, handsome and daring, Strange is the very antithesis of Norrell. A dangerous battle ensues between the two great men. Their obsessions and secret dabbling’s with the dark arts will cause more trouble than they can imagine. (Premieres June 13th)

(Premieres June 18th)

Killjoys (Space/Syfy)
From the producers of Orphan Black (Temple Street Productions) and the creator of Lost Girl (Michelle Lovretta), Killjoys follows a fun-loving, hard living trio of interplanetary bounty hunters sworn to remain impartial as they chase deadly warrants throughout the Quad, a distant system on the brink of a bloody, multiplanetary class war.

A top-level Killjoy, she’s a much loved and charming presence in her community, with a unique gift for earning people’s trust and respect regardless of their class. Under her banter and protective flirtations, there is a dark secret past.
Aaron Ashmore takes on the role of John Jaqobis, a peacemaker who hates conflict. Cheerful and kind-hearted, John prefers not to fight, but his sarcastic wit has put him into the fray enough over the years to teach him how to do it well, and dirty.

BOOM! (FOX)
Get ready for BOOM!, the new game show that fuses family entertainment with the thrill and intensity of a blockbuster action movie.
Full of comedy, color, tension and excitement, BOOM! is a general knowledge quiz show that challenges teams of three players to defuse the game show’s ticking slime-bombs, by cutting the wires relating to the correct answers and leaving the wrong answers untouched. Get it right – and the players win big money. Get it wrong – and, after a tense countdown, the slime-bombs detonate, showering the players – and portions of the audience – with mystery goop that could be anything from guacamole to mashed potatoes, forcing the players out of the game.
As the game progresses and teams successfully defuse the slime-bombs, the prize money builds and the questions get harder. After six tense rounds of questions, players can choose to walk away with their winnings or to take on the more challenging “Mega Money Bomb Round” during which they stand to win up to $500,000. One mistake, and not only do they lose half of their money, but the team is in for the biggest slime blast yet. Answer correctly, and the Mega Money Bomb could be filled with cold hard cash!
BOOM! is based on Keshet International’s smash-hit format which was introduced this year at MIPTV. The original show premiered earlier this year to outstanding ratings, becoming the highest-rated game show launch ever in Israel. The BOOM! stage showcases unique 3-D projection mapping technology which features 1.3 million LED lights driven by more than 100 computers to create visual effects that take over the entire set. (Premieres June 25th)

I hope "Ballers" is good. Cause it could easily be Entourage with sports (even though every cast member is 1000 times more likable than anyone on Entourage)

I was shocked that How To Make Jeans In America only lasted one season, it really did have the same watchably awful vibe as Entourage.

It made it two seasons, which is at least one season more than it deserved. The characters were even douchier than the ones on Entourage and the story never went anywhere interesting. At all.

sense8 is pretty good, Like any sci-fi show, it covered all the bases. It starts out with this tranny who cut his dick off so he could put on a strap on and bang his/her girlfriend. it will be uber popular with phila's growing penis-loving contingent
Hey, by the way who's Curt?

Re: New TV Shows Premiering This Month (June)
I'm watching The Whispers. I liked the idea of kids having imaginary friends that tell them to do bad things, but it's become more than that and somehow seems like a government conspiracy. That turned me off, yet I'm still keeping up with it.
Watched Ballers and The Brink. Liked the first one, will not be keeping up with the second. If The Brink was all about Pornstache and Dewey being fuckups in the military, I'd be much more into it. I don't care for Tim Robbins politically centered portion of the show. Mainly because I'm expecting Veep-like humor and it's just not happening. Jack Black is not someone that I enjoy watching, so his storyline bored me.
Just started watching Humans yesterday. Digging that one a lot so far. Premieres this Sunday in the US, but will already be 3 episodes behind the UK.
Still a few more shows I want to try. Catastrophe, Deutschland 83, and Mr. Robot.

I've heard good things about Mr Robot, but those good things mostly revolve around the acting of the lead, I've read most the storylines and happenings are cliche and tiring.
UBM CD COMING SOON
Re: New TV Shows Premiering This Month (June)
I've been watching Deutschland '83 and The Brink. While I thought the latter wasn't as bad as I expected it to be and thus will continue with the season, I was blown away by the former. Had an absolute blast watching it and am very much looking forward for future installations. It's also a show I can see many people watching, at least here in The Netherlands.
Have also heard good things about Mr. Robot. Might check out the pilot to see what's up.

Watched the first episode of Mr. Robot and two episodes of Deutschland 83. Both shows are great. Mr. Robot has already been renewed based on all the hype, so hopefully it can keep its momentum going.
If you like The Americans on FX then you'll enjoy Deutschland 83, as long as you don't mind subtitles. Really great start so far.

I've watched the first episode of Mr. Robot as well but wasn't overly impressed. Not a bad show but the incessant narration and various other common tropes made it a bit too iffy for my liking. Just finished watching the seconde episode of Deutschland 83 which I think is absolutely stellar. Love it so far.

Re: New TV Shows Premiering This Month (June)
Ballers has thoroughly bored me the first two episodes. Corddry is the only remotely redeeming thing about it so far, The Rock isn't given shit to do, its not really funny or insightful into the industry so whats the point? I'll give it a couple more episodes but feel like bailing already. Plus it really annoys me when they cast an actor who is a full foot too short to be an NFL wide receiver and a chubby guy who isn't big enough to be a lineman.
The Brink is growing on me though. Think it has potential to turn into something good.

Three episodes in and Ballers does indeed suck. It might even be worse than Entourage. Cordry is good, but man there's some really unlikable characters.
Buy my mixtape.
