Re: Fargo (TV Series)
Half to add I still think a I like True Detective a little bit more at this point (people are too hard on the ending, final scenes with Woody/Matthew really tied everything together), but both True Detective and Fargo have been my favorites shows since The Wire. While these are just one season shows and are tough to compare to a multiple season show, I like both seasons of True D/Fargo better than any one season of Breaking Bad. I'm starting to peruse the True D Blu Ray and can't wait to do the same for Fargo (as well as watch the last episode). The art cinema quality of both is better than any previous TV shows I've seen.

Re: Fargo (TV Series)
stuck that landing better than any in recent memory
read the sepinwall ep9 recap after rewatching that ep before starting this one wherein he speculated on the bear trap coming into play, woulda been somewhat perplexed about that otherwise. the rest was pretty set up from there, knowing gus was at malvos place, intuiting the open was lester falling in, knowing those dull nights of '06 watching that dreadful deal or no deal and becoming falsely invested in it. pretty ace finale imo

Re: Fargo (TV Series)
Thought the finale was rather laid back, for a finale. But it kinda fit the show. And that was not what I predicted at all (except SPOILER Lester getting the better of Malvo). So I liked it.
If they continue to get high profile actors and new enough story lines, I'm totally down for a second season. If they try to use all unknown actors and try to do the same thing tho, it will get old quick.
If they do another season, they should think of doing a season set in the summer just to change it up completely. There is still so much hokey summer shit here--maybe even more than winter shit. It would make it new, doing a summer-set version of Fargo. Fall would work too, there is beautiful scenery.

that finale/show was about anything but laid back. tensions of the utmost. there's a s2 anthology type joint to come but can't recall seeing if noah hawley's writing it again, shitty he didn't get the acclaim that nic pizza did

I guess by "laid back" I meant more tension than action. Which I personally think is better anyway.LilLeftBrain wrote:that finale/show was about anything but laid back. tensions of the utmost. there's a s2 anthology type joint to come but can't recall seeing if noah hawley's writing it again, shitty he didn't get the acclaim that nic pizza did

Re: Fargo (TV Series)
This was the shit, Billy Bob, Molly & her dad, Odenkirk, Hanks, everyone killed it. The elevator/hotel episode>>>
but still- I cant see any reason at all for it to be set in Fargoland aside from getting to use the score. Its not like they "nailed it" either, the tones different, accents were mild/barely there(the accents were a main character in the OG imo), Martin Freeman does an impression even though I thought the whole thing was its new characters, I know its set 20 years later but the naive yokel vibe to everyone was played down a lot etc. The whole comedy in its different, near everythings slightly to very off and it distracted the fuck out of me.
Felt like a killjoy racking up criticisms while watching from something this good and its impressive how good a job they did, I cant imagine casting for something like this is handy but the whole ideas asking for unfair comparisons, especially when so many characters & scenes are homages. I dunno its prob just bias on my part from being to fond of the original

Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons locked in for season 2, great work Fargo. Definitely looking forward to this season 2 more than True Detective.
Re: Fargo (TV Series)
ugh
why do both fargo and TD have to have a shitty actor/atress in them
I have no good opinions on Kirsten Dunst and Taylor Kietchse

Looks awesome. Also, Plemmons and Dunst are apparently on the same diet.

Re: Fargo (TV Series)
Shit was beautiful, watched it a 2nd time last night. I think watching every episode twice will be a weekly tradition, only in this case it's not like True D 2 where I'm watching it a 2nd time because I had no fucking clue what went down. Writing as good as ever but the cinematography really stood out from the first episode.

Re: Fargo (TV Series)
Wasn't super sold on Dunst's motivation on hit and running as just some random psychotic blackout moment but loved it otherwise
