I'm nitpicking here, but the avengers thing is a typo?

There's a small chance this sucks, but also could win the lottery tomorrow.

I don't really think it's that small of a chance. There are inevitably going to be people who hate it or love it no matter what, but I think JJ Abrams is a pretty middle of the road director. There's not a lot to suggest that this won't be as bland and dull as most of his other shit, but I'm hoping that his passion for the OGs pulls this above his usual fare.

No, I thought the set pieces were the only thing about it that were really worth while.

Nothing, I just realized I was confusing him with Whedon. NM on that, my bad. Honestly I should've just've stopped with Star Trek, what he did with the first one is the best credentials you could have for a new Star Wars

Got through about 3/4 of that review and gave up. Just drones on and on and on about how it's tons of fun and well made but it plays things safe and 'something is missing', with that something being 'Lucas' vision'. I don't have enough wrist strength to make the sufficient jerk off motions. Motherfuckers put shit on a pedestal of their own making too much.

Into Darkness got great reviews too

fwiw it's at 81 on MC. Aggregate sites aren't a great way of judging how well a movie is gonna resonate with me personally though, so it's pretty arbitrary either way

here's a bad review just for you

http://rogersmovienation.com/2015/12/16 ... e-awakens/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

EDIT: a better, more reasonable negative review. Talks about the same shit as the guy above but in a much smarter and less smug way - that this is too much of a reverent rehash and doesn't expand the franchise enough or do anything really new or original with it. Which feels like a fairly reasonable complaint.

Blah, wasn't trying to come across like I'm rooting against it. I just don't want to be let down, and I'm realizing my expectations from a Star Wars flick as a 30 year old probably don't live up to the impressions of the OG trilogy when I was 7.

That said, I went into the new JP hyped as shit and was severely disappointed, so I'm hoping my skepticism will be crushed and my tempered expectations will make it all the better

Pretty sure he meant it's done $100 mill in presales, not that people are paying $100 for a ticket.

Ridley, Driver, Ford and Boyega were dope.

Won't go any further until everyone else here has watched it.

Anybody gonna try and marathon the old movies in the Machete way?

http://www.nomachetejuggling.com/2011/1 ... ing-order/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Simple, watch them in this order: IV, V, II, III, VI. You may notice Episode I is gone. I'll get to that in a second.

While I definitely get it from story-telling standpoint, I tried the machete order this past week but honestly I couldn't take more than 20 minutes of episode 2 so I just started watching VI. Hayden C is an atrocious actor and everything seems too green-screeny.

I forgot that the whole reason the Stars are War-ing is cause of taxation on trade routes.. that shit is hilarious to me.

I rewatched 3 recently and was surprisingly into it, esp in the second half. It's not good but it's def better than the other two and fairly entertaining.
