I did too but the speed with which they resolved the Jon Snow resurrection makes me optimistic they won't drag it out for too long. Feels like at this point they're resolved to lurch from one big death/plot point to the next without bothering to shade in too much detail, which is fine. At this point I just want to get to the endgame. Hopefully next week gets the r+l=j out of the way for good with the Tower Of Joy flashback
I'm happy to see the Ironborn story going somewhere, at least. I know the it's been several years since that was all published which is skewing things a bit, but it really felt like there was a ton of build up for a ton of nothing. And I'm not sure I want George to spend half of ADWD talking about the Ironborn with all the other plates he's got spinning. Just so I'm clear, he's got the dragon horn, but he demonstrated that whoever uses the thing dies. Are the warlocks he's got supposed to get him around that?

And he sends Victarion to go get Dany + dragons? Or just Dany? Because I don't see how the first one is going to work, and if he expects the dragons to follow her over to Westeros, isn't that a long way? I guess you could go all the way South and have them fly over the shorter gap between the continents, but the Iron Islands aren't anywhere near there. Should I stop thinking practically about any of this?

the high sparrow tried to make it sound like his life was not worth more than anyone else's. but even though the religious nuts have the numbers, it's hard to see someone stepping in to provide leadership to their clan if he dies. the show hasn't shown an organizational structure other than nuns and minions really. there doesn't appear to be a backup, vice president high sparrow.

The wildling giant slamming that dude into the wall is a top 5 murking in the shows history, imo.

yes

I'm guessing they're gonna streamline a lot of this in a way that gives us some basic exposition and then mostly disregards details, logistics and general pragmatism to just have Eurine show up at an opportune moment when his [you know what] could become an actionable plot point

There's gonna be a lot of 'characters not doing things I'd thought they'd do' from here on out. Some of the dialogue reads like it's from a TV soap. Particularly anything Tyrion related. It's been really noticeable so far.

I feel like with a little power and responsibility he could come back to something resembling his high-points in s2 and s3. 'I drink and I know things' was a pretty solid old Tyrion line.

And again, in all fairness to the show, RR fucked his storyline up first before the show ever got to it.

probably why it was in the trailer

"I'm friends with your mother, I'm here to help, don't eat the Help!" was laughably bad.

"it didn't have to be a big dragon....it could be a little one, just like me" was fucking atrocious too lol. Overall dope episode tho. Really glad to see they aren't going to drag out Arya's storyline as the blind karate kid all season too. Greyjoy's brother that killed him tho - is that the first time we've seen/heard about that guy?

calling this right now
we're gonna see Stoneheart this season
the only real clue I have is some scattered web news about Thoros possibly making an appearance in this season, but I got a feeling

I thought they said they weren't even going to do that. Of course plans change but what would it add to the story?

in a meta way, it might end up as a top 2 twist in a series that has become known for huge twists but is increasingly struggling to come up with any good ones that are actually surprising.

in a plot way it's hard to say, since we still don't know what RR really had in mind for her in the big picture*. she hasn't actually done much after she was revealed, aside from maybe killing Brianne and/or Pod. if she does that it here too it possibly makes her a villain and adds on to the meta value, of all the people who could plausibly be expected to do a villain turn she's next to last on the list, right before Ned's head. and they kinda need more villains ppl actually care about in general.

*even tho the last two books are insanely myopic and unfocused you gotta believe there's a good reason for something that big happening.

idk it's just a hunch based on a rumor but I'm convinced of it for whatever reason.

dude people been flying drones over their sets to get spoilers, it's nuts

but i'm not sure this in itself is a big spoiler, him leaving the watch/being released from his wows was always one of the first things brought up in relation to his possible resurrection
