High Level Trolling.

TBF I did get a huge kick out of the decision to not edit out Franco breaking and laughing during Alien's OCD listing of his stuff in his bedroom.

(FWIW I also made the conscious decision to interpret that scene as a homage to The Jerk, even though I know it obviously wasn't, just cuz it was much more fun to interpret it that way).
No trolling; by the way that's such a faggy rejoinder.

If you're into movies and you laugh at that statement I think you're a little bit out of touch. Not mentally or anything; just being a dick to be a dick. That's my opinion. You can't watch this without walking away thinking James Franco is something of a phenomenon. It is a tour de force performance, but it has one fatal flaw: it doesn't happen inside the context of gross, art house elitism the likes of The Master.

The Master is honestly a good comparison. Self indulgent to the nth degree without bothering to add up to a movie (both pretty unapologetically all balls and no cock). Spring Breakers was definitely >>>> on an entertainment level tho.

This was visually awesome and had a few great scenes but, in the end, Harmony Korine's hack faggotry prevails. the dude can't help himself. That said, it's highly watchable for a movie that is as shitty as it is.

Vincent Gallo wrote:“When a mini-dwarf rich kid from Nashville like Harmony Korine flies first class and moves to New York City’s Soho in his ‘plush safe’ apartment, running around town quoting Godard with lines like, “Fuck the bourgeois”, it’s insincere, it’s calculated, it’s unoriginal, and it’s the worst thing in the world, ‘trendy’. He already knows that he and his boring girlfriend Connecticut Chloe Sevigny are going to be on the cover of ‘The Face’. He knows he’ll get his run at The Angelica and be hip in Japan. But no one will ever make an important film because they saw ‘Gummo’ or ‘Donkey Boy’.

The only impact Harmony Korine will have will be on the lives of the girls he slipped drugs to, got stoned and raped while they were passed out. An autobiographical scenario he chose to include in his average screenplay ‘Kids.’ I’ll fuck your ass Cary Woods.

I don't really care when it was written; I just think it's hilarious that motherfuckers believe they are of a refined class.

Yeah, not a Gallo fan but that quote was awesome.
also, Buffalo 66>>>>>>>>>>>>>>anything Korine ever did. Though, I'd say brown bunny is right on par with most of Korine's middle works as far as self indulgent pretentious bullshit movies go.

Gallo is awesome; always has been in my eyes.

I think it's unfortunate he is unable to mask his envy of Korine's achievements in cinema.

except one of them was a legitematelly brilliant actor while the other is a preening downtown hipster who's sum total of actual talent amounts to giving the camera a disaffected 100 yard stare and a bit of of pop-locking

Buffalo 66 is the best debut movie of the past 20 years, his ensemble in the first half is the G.O.A.T movie outfit, and I subconsciously stole all my most ostentatious bowling moves from him in it.

Also, this is the greatest marriage of music and moving image ever :

Anyhoo, Spring Breakers is the first Korine movie I've sat through in full. The 2 things I liked best about it are Gucci Mane's "feels like Mozart on my dick" line and the girls semi-dyking out in teh hallway as they all sing the hook to Hot In Herre.

i was disappointed. kinda predictable and almost even boring..

even the visuals weren't all that.

tony scott was more radical and experimental than this and he was working in the mainstream
