Yeah, it's a cool blog that I sometimes check out.

Tourist Trap, Who Can Kill A Child, Cat's Eye and Let's Scare Jessica To Death are very good calls, hard to take Nightmare City seriously though.

Synopsis
"Lured by the promise of an Australian holiday, backpackers Rutger, Katarina, and Paul visit the notorious Wolf Creek Crater. Their dream Outback adventure soon becomes a horrific reality when they encounter the siteג€™s most infamous local, the last man any traveler to the region ever wants to meet; Mick Taylor (John Jarratt).

As the backpackers flee, Mick pursues them on an epic white knuckled rampage across hostile wasteland. Only one will remain to be dragged back to his lair to witness the true magnitude of his monstrosity. And if the last man standing is to have any hope of surviving where no one else has survived before, heג€™ll have to use every ounce of cunning to outwit the man behind the monster and become every bit as ruthless as the monster inside the man."

Really impressed with both of Greg Mclean's films (Rogue & Wolf Creek). Glad to hear he's on board with directing the sequel.

Just saw it this weekend. Very dope creature-flick, decent CGI and an interesting set-up with the tides. Thought the protagonist was a bit of a prick but I guess he [Maclean] was going for that "urban person out his element"-angle to it. The inclusion of the dog was cool as well.

Yeah the stranger in a strange land scenario, I thought it worked well here however, with the whole hipster travel journalist and the locals. It's not really a horror movie per say, but there are plenty of elements that you would associate with the genre. That whole croc den scenario was great and full of suspense and tension.

Spartan did u know this? Is this true bout Halloween?

The first Halloween was the blueprint for damned-near every slasher-flick that came after it (itself styled after Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho). Carpenter was a pioneer and didn't expect that flick to become what it did, thus the ending of the first movie wasn't exactly a cliffhanger and the second movie was supposed to be the end of the story since Mike was supposed to have died. Carpenter hasn't had any direct involvement with the series since 3.

Mike was a psycho. Killed his sister in the first movie and they never explained why other than he was 'pure evil'. Only reason Mike wasn't in the third movie was because John Carpenter only agreed to make it if it wasn't a direct sequel to the originals. He wanted the Halloween franchise to be an anthology series like Night Gallery or The Twilight Zone instead of pigeon-holed into what it became.

I'm not sure if it's in the History of Horror documentary or not, but it was revealed somewhere, that Carpenter made the ending to Halloween to leave it open to a sequel. Halloween II directly follows on with the events of the first film with everything taking place on the very same night.

Did not know about a planned anthology, but the first three movies in the franchise do have obvious connections. The novelization of the first film contained references to Samhain the pagan festival. It's an ancient tradition where a child is selected to murder his family in order to bring prosperity and a bountiful harvest to the rest of the community or some shit like that. Halloween II contained the chalk writing on the board that read Samhain, and Dr Loomis talks further on what it consisted of. Halloween III: Season Of The Witch, despite the absence of any of the original characters also had plenty of references to Samhain too. I think The Curse Of Michael Myers also had references to Samhain with a tattoo on Myers. I like to think that Michael Myers' killing spree just started completely randomly with no background story, which would make it all the more disturbing how a kid just goes psychotic like that.

There's supposedly a spin-off movie called The Russellville Hacksaw Murders in the works based on a nearby town family massacre that happened prior to the first Halloween movie. It's referenced in the scene when the cemetery groundsman is talking with Dr Loomis just before Judith Myers' tombstone is taken.

Been a while since Nic Cage's Season Of The Witch got mentioned and a new distributor means a brand new trailer.

I can overlook his accent despite it being set in what looks like medieval europe, but I'm not sure if the film is even part of the horror genre after seeing the trailer.

Trailer for upcoming Edwige Fenech book, and when I say trailer, I mean a compilation of nude-scenes. I guess youtube is getting less vigilant about nudity.

No they started making a fourth in the early 90's but it was never finished or released. It's on the Anchor Bay trilogy box-set as extra material, but it's mostly just a few scenes and outtakes so I guess there was more of it.

Just did a little digging, and it looks like Return To Sleepaway Camp completely disregarded the sequels like what Halloween H20 did with everything post Part II.

Great new about it's unearthing, but what from I read in that link it kind of sounds like an abomination.

Hammer horror actress Ingrid Pitt dies aged 73

Pitt's popularity in Hammer Film Productions made her a cult figure

British film director Baker dies
Hammer horror actress Ingrid Pitt, best known for starring in cult classics such as Countess Dracula, has died at the age of 73.

The Polish-born star died at a hospital in south London after collapsing a few days ago.

She was regarded by many fans as the queen of Hammer horror films.

The star's death comes weeks after film-maker Roy Ward Baker, who directed Pitt in The Vampire Lovers, died at the age of 93.

Pitt's daughter Stephanie Blake told the BBC News website that her mother's death had come as a "huge surprise".

After the actress collapsed recently, doctors had told her was she suffering from heart failure.

"She could be incredibly generous, loving, and she'll be sorely missed," Mrs Blake said.

She added that she wanted her mother to be remembered as the Countess Dracula with the "wonderful teeth and the wonderful bosom".

'Gloriously uninhibited'

The Wicker Man director Robin Hardy said he had "very good memories" of the actress.

"She was a very attractive person in every sense. She was a perfectly good actress but a very decent person as well, not that those two things don't often go together. I'm very sorry to hear she's gone," he added.

Official Hammer historian Marcus Hearn paid tribute to the star, calling her a "talented actress and fine writer".

All fans of Hammer and of British horror are going to miss her terriblyג€

Marcus Hearn
Official Hammer historian
He added: "She was partly responsible for ushering in a bold and brazen era of sexually explicit horror films in the 1970s, but that should not denigrate her abilities as an actress."

A good friend of the actress, Mr Hearn said she was "gloriously uninhibited" and "great fun to be with".

Although she was not the first female star of a Hammer film, Mr Hearn said she had always been "very proud" of becoming the first prominent female protagonist in a Hammer after her role in The Vampire Lovers.

"All fans of Hammer and of British horror are going to miss her terribly," he said.

She began her career with fairly minor roles in several Spanish films in the mid-1960s.

But in 1968 she landed a supporting role in war movie Where Eagles Dare, appearing alongside Clint Eastwood and Richard Burton.

The actress got her breakthrough role two years later in the horror thriller The Vampire Lovers, which was a box office success.

Several Hammer movies followed, firmly establishing her as one of the key women of British horror of the 1970s.

Her other film credits included The Wicker Man (1973), Who Dares Wins (1982), Smiley's People (1982) and Wild Geese II (1985).

Pitt made regular appearances at horror conventions and penned several books about her career in the genre.

That looks very tasty. Very RECish with the apartment complex and that final shot on the roof is reminiscent of The Horde. Will have to check out Rammbock eventually.
