Not sure what to make of Will Smith in the lead role as Django, disappointed I guess, if any of this is true ofc. He'll guarantee a better box office draw for QT's project and he can certainly get in the zone when he actually gives a shit about certain roles, but it feels like a cop out to me. Would have preferred Michael K. Williams. Dude has vengeance with a capital 'v' written all over his face and definitely has the right acting skills to deliver a stellar performance, well in my book anyway.

Really hope the villainous plantation owner is not a European actor. Got to be an American that can maintain that southern flavor along with the film's setting. My pick would be William Sanderson. The guy is a natural at playing vile redneck sacks of shit without hamming it up.

Waltz is playing the German bounty hunter that helps Django.

That's a solid pick for the role of plantation owner imo.

If you think anyone but mike lowery should be cast in this role, you have revealed latent homosexual tendencies.

Will is a good actor and perfect for something like Bad Boys but I'd rather see someone a bit more "bad ass" in a role like the one they're describing.

This guy was pretty cool in Expendables

Terry crews? I'd rather have michael t. Williams by a mile. All jokes aside, i think thats a pretty inspired choice by spartan.

Other interesting choices?

Denzel? Probably unrealistic.

Both Jamie Foxx and Don Cheadle have the chops and comedic timing to be a QT leading man.

While we're on the subject of the wire, how about "Cutty"...Chad Coleman?

Same. I'm currently in the proces of watching Deadwood for the first time, and e. B. would certainly be an interesting choice. I'm a huge fan of Michael K. and he would fit perfectly in this movie.

after racking my brain to think of better actors to play the lead, I have to agree with Spartan (for now?) with Omar. As for the dude from deadwood being the villain, I think there could be more worthy creepy and hateable redneck whiteys to play the bad guy. I have to think of some alternative proposals though

find and watch a movie called Fight For Your Life, you'll see why spartan is 10000% on the money with that pick

RANDOM TWEET AND BLATHER: LEONARDO DICAPRIO AND IDRIS ELBA JOINING TARANTINO'S DJANGO UNCHAINED

Is there truth to be found on Twitter? Well, there was on the matter of Django Unchained being the next offering from Quentin Tarantino, which raises the possibility that the man intends to continue leaking bits and pieces of information out this way.

Here's what we know for sure: First, the film is a racially charged 'southern', a film revolving around a former slave turned bounty hunter. We know Franco Nero and Christoph Waltz are on board and that offers have been made to Will Smith. That's all for real. And now Twitter fueled speculation that Idris Elba and Leonardo DiCaprio may both be signing on as well. The Elba thing, frankly, is rank speculation based on the actor tweeting that he was going out for something controversial but the man would be a perfect fit so it's hard not to hope. DiCaprio seems like more solid info, with former Creative Screenwriting editor Jeff Goldsmith tweeting that DiCaprio has been firmly cast as the lead villain for the picture. Goldsmith is the guy who got the ball rolling on the Will Smith news, so he certainly seems to have the inside line on this one and DiCaprio is a director who Tarantino has publicly admired - and pursued for Inglourious Basterds - and who also seems like an obvious fit for this sort of role which makes this, though still a rumor, at least a plausible rumor.
