You can pretty much skip season 2 of fnl.
It's terrible. I second what tommy said. The direction was amazing.

Vince in The Cell tho. A lot of you are gonna knee-jerk but lets not act like Matty Mic didn't have some horrible acting in horrible ass rom-coms before 2014 was his year.zombie wrote:Lol Vince? This show will be a disaster

Also, worried about it not being all directed by one guy much more than i am about specific casting. Fukunaga's direction was a HUGE part of why the first season was as good as it was, having everything directed by one guy assured the entire season would be stylistically coherent. Removing him is already a minus, and then splitting the directorial work between several people might make it even worse. It would only give the show more of an exquisite corpse feeling
Lin should stick to direction F&F movies and paintball episodes in Community. He hasn't shown anything as a director other than being able to stage action sequences.

This is setting up to be a dope potential noir scenario judging by the plot points discussed. I wouldn't be suprised if the whole look and pace of the show is totally different.
Re: True Detective (HBO)
with these decisions isn't it entirely possible that they're going to take season 2 in a completely different direction tho? that's what i'm expecting/hoping

Re: True Detective (HBO)
different direction sure
but what Tommy said still applies, Lin's strong point is action not drama. but maybe they'll have Ferrel chasing Vaughn in a tank down the LA reservoir, that would be dope as fuck

Re: True Detective (HBO)
the actors are cool but i'm curious what girl they're going to get to show her tits to compare with the season 1 debut from alexandra daddario. They're going to have to keep that tradition.
Re: True Detective (HBO)
this season is set in current time and then in the 80s or something, right?

I read a feature on the writer/creator/plagiarizer a few days ago, he came off like the most pretentious douche on the planet. I don't think there's any way the second season lives up to the first.

Wanted to buy it, then I realized I have HBO Go and there isn't really a reason to ever cop a HBO box set again.

what the fuck are you even talking about?907 wrote:I read a feature on the writer/creator/plagiarizer a few days ago, he came off like the most pretentious douche on the planet. I don't think there's any way the second season lives up to the first.
Re: True Detective (HBO)

Re: True Detective (HBO)
May not always be the case. I was watching a show on HBO Go a few days and noticed in the show description it read, "show will expire on December 31, 2014." I know Showtime Anywhere has expiration dates on their shows, too.Philaflava wrote:Wanted to buy it, then I realized I have HBO Go and there isn't really a reason to ever cop a HBO box set again.

Shit bummed me out too.
Here's the article I mentioned, where he comes off like a total dickbag.

That cover photo where he's sitting on an overturned motorcycle is almost enough to make me not like him on it's own. Throw in his "I think I'm a tough badass" leather jacket with the patch on the back (what club you in, bro?) and it's a wrap.

Re: True Detective (HBO)
I could care less how much a douche the creator is.
Re: True Detective (HBO)
I'm cautiously optimistic for season 2, I just don't know if dude has it in him to live up to the first one. Him sucking doesn't make me like his work any less.

Re: True Detective (HBO)
Well the cast is great. I'm more worried that fukunaga(sp?) isn't directing again
