^the fanbases will be united! no more senseless conflict and destruction

in the show they got a lil lazy with communicating tywin's motivations. the question of his knowledge of the incest was resolved nicely -- he was not oblivious but only in denial. Why he tolerates the tyrells' assassination of the king, and falsely blames the son who has proven most capable and obedient, was not. It reads like a plot device to get tyrion out of westeros rather than a genuine response by the character. I'm sure it's all explained in the books w/e but that's for the other thread.

He recognized the secret passage to the tower of the Hand, went up there on impulse and then ran for it because when you're escaping and twisted with grief and various other feeling over strangling the love of your life and shooting your father/most powerful man it the land you probably don't have the wherewithal or the time to cobrasnake your way around a giant castle to meticulously avenge all your old grievances.
If you know this from the book then cool.

However, there is nothing from the show to allude to this. From the show Tyrion seemed like one of the most educated men on history. I have no reason to believe from watching the show what you're saying. His intentions seemed quite deliberate. Well not seeing Shea in his father's bed, but it did look to me like he wanted to confront his father. To me if you're escaping and wind up in the bedroom of The Hand (a job you previously held) that now belongs to the man who sentenced you to death, I would think you'd want to hurry up and get the fuck outta there.

Yeah...terrible theories. Like ones that, in no way or fashion , could ever really happen, even in this unpredictable fantasy based tv show.

Same dudes who used to be up in the true detective and breaking bad threads claiming crazy shit like a reflection they saw off a steel bumper might come in to play later in the show. I appreciate people trying to figure shit out but 999/1000 times the shit is :fail:

Since that wasn't me, I will let the "dudes" you referring to defend themselves. But I don't think anything said regarding the whole Tyrion killing Tywin thing sounds terrible. Especially since we didn't read the book.

my theories that panned out:
-robb stark gonna get murked (for being too honourable)
-oberyn would look out for tyrion in the trial
-oberyn's getting murked (since his character arc has reached a logical conclusion)
-stannis is the only one who took the wall seriously (i didn't predict he'd show up this soon though)

theories that didn't pan out:
-sansa will see tyrion's qualities and come around to him
-jon sno will defect to the wildlings
-dickless theon greyjoy will no longer let temptation get the better of him and he'll become a positive person

Posturing theories and then keeping track of them according to what happens on the weekly TV show rather than just reading the fucking books is ridiculous

Not everyone likes reading. Besides, it's obvious not everything that's happening in the books is happening the same way so we do that and take away from enjoying the show. It's no different than how I feel about LOTR or the comic book movies. I have to put on a different hat when watching the movies and I hate doing that. Makes it hard to just enjoy the visual product on its own.

Aside from that even, I like reading, but pretty much have no desire to read Game of Thrones. Its one of those things that is daunting as hell to me, especially considering that I have trouble sometimes following the (by most accounts) stripped down arcs on the TV show.

The only reason the theory shit becomes such a big deal in this thread is because people seem to get such pleasure from telling non-book readers how stupid they are. :smugkid:

ayo PB, no way am i gonna read these books. read a few chapters from the first cause my room mate had it. terrible repetitive prose and much creepier than even the show (eg describing the rubbing of danerys' boobs against her tunic as she walks out of the tent; describing an incestuous/rape nightmare she has about her bro). GRRM is very good at storytelling -- developing characters and plots -- but I wasn't feeling his writing style.

The show can't pass the book soon enough. The squabbling between show watchers and book readers is pure faggotry on the level of hip hop Vs rap rap rap

 at this argument.

About Tywin getting murked though, it made me wonder why rich ass people like the Lanisters don't have people on the payroll like those dudes who Arya ran into last season who can bring people back to life. I don't know if you have to be into whatever their religion deal was for it to work, or if just the one dude could do it, but it seems like you would want one of those dudes around 24/7, especially for royalty. Do people think it's just fake, like how most of the kingdom feels about white walkers? I wish we'd have seen more of that group, they seemed interesting, More so than the fucking knights watch anyway.

the brotherhood lives. their resurrection shit is so secret the lannisters aren't even up on it. we haven't seen anything on them for a while but they must have cooled down operations now that the war is over.
