Holy shit at this weeks episode...GREAT WRITING the way everything came full circle...I know that's always been the show's M.O. but it was really covered well and seemed really natural....I loved everything to do with Richard Lewis.... The thing about Curb is most shows would have drug that stupid story line with Loretta out FOREVER, I love that they cut that shit now...

Well, yeah...but the thing with Curb is there is no script. Larry comes up with the stories for the episodes and the ideas for the scenes, then he just lets the actors basically improvise.

Yeah and it never seems to get old either. Krazy Eyez Killah wouldn't have had this kind of success with the viewer for this long. Leon just comes with the funnies non stop.
Positive, I believe the lead roles improvise around loosely scripted incidents/dialog. I'm positive the smaller roles are largely scripted though, so it is "written."

none of cye is scripted.. they've gone over the process in many interviews.
an entire episode is a 1-2 page outline. a lot of the regulars choose to not even read the outlines in advance & just show up without any idea of what they'll be filming that day
i love the nudge they gave to their audience by keeping Leon in that sort of way, because everyone knew the Blacks were probably leaving the show when Larry was talking to Cheryl in episode 1, but NOBODY wanted Leon to leave.

When people think of Providence, Rhode Island they typically think of organized crime

I don't think this is the case for the smaller roles though. It would be impossible to get EVERYONE who comes on the show to adlib. It's against union rules, anyway.
I'm positive they are given lines, or rehearse with lines, while Jeff and the rest just come in and "freestyle."

I agree, I thought it was an obvious nod to the audience and all the hype we have built for Leon's character...
