Hardly worth creating a new thread for, but worth posting about.

The Duke of Burgundy is supposedly Peter Strickand's ode to The Story of O and other erotic works from the seventies, and I keep seeing the names of Jess Franco and Jean Rollin brought up to describe this film, which piques my interest even further. No trailers yet, but this NSFWish clip is dope:

Loved Strickland's Berberian Sound Studio, and this looks like a worthy follow-up with serious potential.

 Awesome. It sounds pretty great. I feel like the female werewolf has been underused in horror movies.

There's The Howling and its sequels and in more recent times the Ginger Snaps franchise. I only copped Werewolf Woman because I kept seeing it referenced in a bunch of film books I've read, plus Dagmar Lassander hasn't disappointed me yet.

Also copped this lot as part of the same order:
Love and Death in the Garden of the Gods
Tropic of Cancer

And paid way too much on eBay for So Sweet, So Dead to fuel my giallo addiction.

The only other ones I can think of are Michelle Pfeiffer in Wolf and Ricci in Cursed. And Paquin in Trick R Treat. And there's that really terrible Werewolf movie that MST3K spoofed.

Ah I forgot about Beast Must Die and I actually own that one. I try to pretend Werewolf in Paris didn't happen.

Hoping to watch this tonight possibly. Odds are unfairly stacked against the movie living up to a fraction of that awesome artwork, especially when it's directed by Umberto Lenzi.

So its a Lenzi rip on The Beastmaster? Looks awesome.

Speaking of Lenzi, this came out this year and it somehow slipped past me until recently

And raro is also putting out Slaughter Hotel next month, which looks sweet. Di Leo giallo with Kinski? I'm all in.

Slaughter Hotel is pretty fucking terrible, but enjoyable nonetheless.

EDIT: I should add the film's ending is fucking epic.

UK got fucked over with the home release of The Strange Color of Your Body's Tears. Only available on DVD with bullshit burnt-in English subs.

Copped a couple of movies as recommended by my less articulate brother from another mother:

They're all bootlegs. Depending on the film's rarity, then the quality ranges wildly from an OOP DVD rip to foreign TV rip and nth generation 4:3 VHS rip. All the films are English friendly though with either an English dub or fan-made subs available.

Copped a second batch of movies from cultaction on the day of my previous post in this thread and they already arrived before the new year, so shipping is very fast.

Obviously not a popular opinion, but I really struggled with Branded to Kill. Is this more of the same?

Eureka Entertainment are also releasing Ganja & Hess soon; which is one of those movies I'm always made to feel like I should have seen already.

Image

On an unrelated note, I'm completely jealous of any film nerds in NYC going to this:

Is Branded to Kill the only Suzuki film you've seen?
Youth of the Beast is more of a classical gangster film, it has only minor flashes of the style Suzuki developed a few years later.
Its pretty much Yojimbo set in the amongst the Yakuza world of the 60's. I'm a pretty big fan.

Spartan which ones in the giallo series would you say are essential? Only seen 3 of them

That sounds a lot more palatable than Branded to Kill.

TBH, this doesn't apply just to Suzuki, but I find it pretty tough to get into many Japanese cult/genre movies, other than a few personal exceptions. It might be because of the way narratives are constructed or lack thereof, but I find a lot of the praiseworthy stuff a real chore to sit through; kind of regretting coppin' the Stray Cat Rock blu-ray set, believe it or not!

Might be a huge contradiction considering the out there and offbeat shit I tend to watch, but for whatever reason, they've always felt much more accessible to me.

I've seen all of them and if I was going there I would have gone Mindbender hyper to see this lot on the big screen:

Tenebre
Footprints on the Moon
All The Colors of the Dark
A Bay of Blood
Torso

Footprints on the Moon isn't really a giallo, and but it's an incredible film all the same. Way classier than the films it get lumped with, like what I just did.
