Best physical comedians?

Post by blessingindisguise »

First names come to mind are Charlie chaplin (r.i.p.), John ritter (r.i.p.), jim carrey (i know hes a polarizing comedian but still), woody allen, chevy chase and mel brooks. Add harpo marx in there too.

From a Stand Up perspective, Arnez J used to kill it in Comicview's golden era.

Seriously, his film 'Safety First' is why physical comedy is great. I think the reason people don't often hold him in the high regard of a Chaplin or a Douglas was because he died happy and obscenely wealthy.

Everyone in this thread NEEDS to watch 'Safety First.' It's streaming now on Netflix.

As much as i hate to agree with the resident fucktard, i have to. I will posit both early stand uproutines and UHF as fodder. Dude WAS hilarious as alot of people do not know.

- Charis Farley of course

- Eddie Griffin's old routines - The Michael Jackson on coke routine and the "NIGGA YOU WANT MYYYY PUSSSSSSY!?!!?!" routine is classic....dude jups off the second level of the stage and does like a crazy ass split in mid air LOL.

- Buster Keaton

- Arnez J (glad to see someone mention him, dude was the shit)

- a comedian out of Atlanta called "G-Mann"

I remember his routines from a lot of the old Fridays episodes from when I was a kid. He once was on the news segment in a big tank of crickets. As soon as Seinfeld started I was amped to see this guy on something again. I wonder if there's a decent collection of any Friday's shows anywhere? I remember getting hip to AC/DC watching that show as a kid.

PS PM your issues with me to me and I'll try to care?

I've seen some Harold Lloyd stuff, but don't think I've seen Safety First. Gonna check it.

Gotta mention Groucho, too. His mirror scene with Harpo in Duck Soup is a comedy classic that's been done to death ever since.
