But is it as good as Knight and Day? ; )

I have it stored on my computer so I have a date-movie ready, now I just need to find a date.

A dating/sex-comedy from a female perspective is actually something I'd much rather see than another romcom disguised as a dude-flick (if that makes sense).
Whether to Jason of Philaflava or John Podesta, I will speak my fucking perspective openly

movie is dope. It's hardly a chick flick. I mean, the comedy is pretty much aimed right at men with women acting it out. Genius really.

IMHO, there is no lyricist now or before that can match the lyrical dexterity of Qwel.

it's pretty solid, but I can't imagine seeing it twice before it hits DVD.

Never will a movie with basically all women be this funny again. That in itself is an achievement. A bunch of great moments and the whole cast is awesome.
My only beef with it is that the last 40 minutes or so (the movie is surprisingly long) drag on some faggoty emotional shit, but I suppose that's to be expected for any movie being made today and marketed for women.

Traile made it seem like a douchecore comedy in drag. Does it transcend this or is it just romantic comedy made doubly queer?

Liked a little over half of it. Melissa McCarthy steals the show.

Couldve done with a bit more use of Clementine from Reno 911 and Erin from the office.

I thought the same thing before I saw it. Ended up loving it.

it's way way better than that

it was made by freaks and geeks writers, that alone makes it worth a look

or maybe the success of this movie will give studios/producers (and people who post on :phila:) the insight that females are actually capable of being funny (especially in leading roles) and more movies like this will be made in the future. it's not like this was "a dude flick marketed to women".. it was completely written by two women

 to apatow

fine. my point stands tho

there's notoriously a lack of good comedic roles for women & comedies written from a female perspective because of the myths that a.) women are not funny & b.) that they won't sell. this movie proves both to be wrong & hopefully opens some doors

they let men make enough shitty comedies.. it's not like they would be taking money away from good projects anyways

Let's not get crazy here. This movie just happened to contain about 80% of all the funny women acting today. If THESE women continue to make films, it's a good look but The last thing we need is a female comedy explosion.

Also, agreed that the movie could have used a lot more of the Reno 911 girl.

ack's sentiment is not wrong and has merit, but this would be a good time to point out that roughly the same thing was being said when mean girls came out and it changed absolutely nothing

re: mean girls

that's probably true.

anna faris is very talented, but needs to pick better movies to be in. so far, aside from the scary movies, her only real legit claim to solo fame is that gregg araki stoner comedy.. which isn't really even that great but is inexplicably embraced by certain nerd segments as some kind of offbeat lost gem

i'm with ackbar on this one, i was pleasantly surprised and happy with the fact the lead actor in the movie (whig) also co-wrote the script. dope shit, mad talent, always loved whig but had no idea she was such a funny writer
