That minecraft/zelda/megaman episode was fantastic, from the guest star to annie/shirley massacr'ing the blacksmith to little crzy abed's torturing each other and helping take down Pierce's pops, the ocean's 11 satire was meh besides Jeff and Britta's awesome cris angel outfits and the chang song.

So lame. I was happy it got picked up for another season, but now I wish they would have just canceled it.

Yeah, this is even worse. The Community that we love really did get cancelled, in the form of being taken from its creator and the intensely ambitious heart of the show. Key writers and producers have left too now, going into this now pointless 13 episode season. I feel bad for the cast.
Season 3 was a dark year (all according to the Campbell formula Harmon's been yapping about), and it would have been really cool to see this earned "Spring" year of season 4. When it's lighter just because of this corporate takeover trying to make it more accessible, not so much.

i'm pretty obsessed and nerded out with this show...it has a bunch of callbacks that just satisfy the hell out of a devoted fan like me
i even made my own youtube playlist to organize all of the michael haggins' daybreak references (i might have missed one along the way)

btw the season finale was possibly my favorite single sitcom episode ever

Ask me anything with Dan Harmon, some tidbits about the actual scene Chevy walked off on and why it pissed Harmon off so much. How he sank nearly 300K of his own money into one of the seasons and his favorite has always been Donald. Also Troy and Pierce were originally supposed to be the buddy duo ala 'beavis and butthead' but the dynamic just played out with Abed too beautifully.

Dan Harmon wrote:He refused to do the "tag" for the Digital Estate Planning episode (the 8 bit video game episode). In the scripted tag, Abed comes to Pierce with the thumb drive he took, and says "Pierce, I've been able to adjust some of the code for your Dad's video game and I've made a version I think you might like better." He puts the thumb drive into a laptop in front of Pierce. We cut to the laptop screen, where we see Pierce's avatar on a front lawn with the giant floating head of Cornelius. Every time Pierce presses the space bar, his avatar throws a baseball to his father's head, which gives him a thousand points and a "great job, son!" Pierce presses the space bar a few times, pauses, then leans over and embraces Abed and we fade to black. When Adam Countee pitched that tag, tears instantly rolled down my cheeks, and in point of fact, my eyes are getting watery describing it to you. It was the most important part of the episode and possibly one of the most important moments of the season. I was very upset to hear that it wasn't shot because someone didn't feel like shooting it, especially since it was literally the last day of shooting, which meant we'd never be able to pick it up. I regret nothing about how upset I got. My job was to care about my show.
egos. The answer I heard from the people on set was that he didn't think it was funny. After he realized how upset I was about it, he said things in voicemails like "there was no script" (untrue) and "I have a weird relationship with the name Cornelius" (dumb, he had no dialogue in the tag). The real answer, I believe, is that he wanted to go home because he was tired. He probably didn't realize he was permanently damaging the episode by doing so because he often walked off set and then we would just pick up his shots later in the week. But this was the final shot of the season. The sets came down after he walked away. So this was the one time in three years that his personality caused unfixable damage to something I really held valuable.

I was just looking at the new tv schedules and saw they're moving this to Friday at 8:30 after Whitney.

Looks like Chase is still trying to get off the show.

Drop that motherfucker and replace him with Chang. Seriously.

I thought this was a lame duck season and they were ending the show regardless after this year?
Fuck Chevy chase. I have been saying it since the start of this thread - he is a fucking hack and his humor is never subtle
Could u imagine his trying, for example, to pull off that scene in which Joel Mchale starts speaking with Jeff goldblum's cadence and histrionics during his neurotic accusation? Chevy is an obvious motherfucker and mine as well be fucking Larry, moe, and curly in half his scenes

Love Chevy in this show and think he's hilarious.
His humor takes a lot more talent to pull of than Chang's that's for sure.

Re: Community Season 3 thread
I think the show would have already ended if NBC wasn't such a fucking mess. The only reason Community is still even part of the discussion is because The Office and 30 Rock are ending, Animal Practice has already been cancelled, and Up All Night I think is already done for too. If they've literally got fucking nothing, it makes sense to at least give a couple of very limited runs to a cult favorite (it keeps the show in the news if it keeps staving off death). The other big thing is that after these 13 episodes they'll be at 78 total, and then need to get to 100 episodes to sell the syndication rights. Given how little else they have, if they can get the ratings to justify getting to 100 before stopping, they'll do so (e.g. get up to about a 3.5 and then eek out another 22 before canning it).Reason wrote:PopeyeJones wrote:Looks like Chase is still trying to get off the show.

As for Chase, he was a fucking gawd in the 80s, but he fucking sucks at this point. By far the weak point of the show. That said McHale becoming a star didn't really happen, so he's still the biggest name they've got. Creatively he's a weak link IMO, but in terms of attracting eyeballs I think his name alone is interpreted as valuable. Canning him now after Harmon was forced out probably wouldn't sit well the small but rabid following that's keeping the show alive, if only barely.

I just don't know how much of the community nerd base gives a fuck about or even knows the significance of Chevy chase's career/scope/act. But you are right in implying that this show lacks any superstar red carpet type of actor, even though I do feel this show has some uniquely gifted comedic talentsPopeyeJones wrote:I think the show would have already ended if NBC wasn't such a fucking mess. At the very least They need some kind of rob lowe/Adam Scott infusion to achieve that effect but of course I like the show as it is...I even stand Chevy because Harmon made him out to be the butt of the joke 98% of the time he caught any camera time...I suppose I don't have to worry too much though after reading about his outburst that his character is getting increasingly bigoted. Maybe the show won't drop off as much and maybe the simple fact the network has their chosen non-Harmon people running it is enough to get it to 100. Ironically as much as I love the show it is extremely difficult to picture tbs or w/e syndicating this show...it is such a "niche" show
