13 Assassins by Takashi Miike

Post by Dat_Triflin_Ass_Dude »

apologies if there's already a post regarding this flick. Anyone lucky enough to have seen this yet? Trailer looks straight gully, and looks like the type of film right up my alley. It comes out in limited release on April 29.

guys just to check expectations, if this is really a fully traditionalist samurai drama then don't expect nonstop slaughter throughout. there's supposed to be a very long battle scene in the end, but odds are very good the rest of the running time wiil all be character building and plot development. there's also a good chance there will be like 7000 characters to keep track of

exactly, based on the trailer it seems like an actual old school film, not an updated homage or anything like that. I'm pretty psyched, as someone who enjoys the old samurai flicks this seems right up my alley.

Wait, so the opening title doesn't rise from the protagonist's semen?

Looks serious. Miike's films have been very hit or miss with me but this one looks like it is going to deliver. Just saw "Graveyard of honor" a little while back, really enjoyed that one.

yeah Miike is wiiiiiildy inconsistent, probably moreso than any other director.....so while this does indeed look awesome and the reviews are great, I'm gonna try and remain neutral going into it

just got done watching this. The 2nd half, ~1hr long battle sequence is straight up exhilarating. I'd say it definitely lived up to all the hype. There's something at the very end of the flick that kinda had me scratching my head. I don't think it's as complex as I'm trying to make it out to be, but probably more of something that's lost in translation. You guys will see what I'm talking about when u see it. Do check this, shit is ill.

from the preview it looks surprisingly tame for a Takashi Miike film, but im sure it will be good. Anything the dude makes is worth a watch.. Check out Visitor Q and Ichi the killer by him as well.

Dude its a samurai movie. Is having a long ass battle in it really a spoiler? And if you hate spoilers I suggest you never read a post by 360 in CYE.

theres no universal law that says samurai movie must be a certain way.
tension is built on the premise that you know just enough. now i know more than just enough about THIS film. so when i watch it ill be waiting for it and just yearning for this moment to be over which then translates into missing out on all the cool shit before the shit that has been spoiled.

what if they made it happen 30 minutes into it? you tell motherfuckers when shit happens it fucks you up.
