season one was off the hook. One of my favorite shows ever.

Season two wasn't as good imo. They got a bit too into technology for the modern angle.

I don't want to spoil anything so i won't say much. I didn't like the Moriarty actor at all and that really brought it down a bit. I can't wait for season three but i read it's going to be a really long time before it's done.

yeah the campy shit took a bit of getting used to, but I find that if I go back and watch the earlier episodes his style grew on me, especially the pool scene.

One of the best things I think I've seen on British prime time in years that's family/girlfriend/kid friendly.

All down to Mark Gatiss (Mycroft Holmes) writing it. I kind of just assume that if he's involved in something, I'm going to enjoy it.

late pass, just picked up s1 this weekend and watched eps 1 and 2 back to back, shit is awesome. really looking forward watching more of them

really loved how this take was so much more in tune with the original stories than the two recent movies. the update of both character-specific story elements and old pulp conventions from the stories to the modern environment was done incredibly well. lost my shit at the '3 patch problem' line

 for the recommendation, just blew through season 1. It's a mesmerizing experience. season one finale was

Never really seen a show in this format before, with just 3 basically movie-length episodes per season. I guess it's considered a mini-series?

i was wondering about that myself... i've seen uk tv shows that are only 6-8 eps per season (both spaced and uk office were like this i think), i figured they just ran half of each movie as an individual episode. each half would be 45 mins, which would pad out to an hour with commercials, seems right on the money.

brits confirm/deny?

We have mini-serieses (that doesn't sound right) here in the UK that are feature lengths. Mostly detective dramas.

unconventional bork tv stylingz ala

i generally really dig the uk tv show formats though, the idea of just presenting a short self contained story arc that doesn't meander and loose focus over multiple seasons is very dope

Well, in the case of Sherlock as it's a BBC drama, it gets screened with no commercial breaks. The downside is us UK borks have to pay for a TV license that pays for all this BBC stuff.

The major networks could take notes. Especially the more ambitious stuff that's been cancelled

The licence is pretty cheap and a lot of people get away with not paying anyways.

Obviously theres a lot less money at stake with UK shows cos of the smaller audience but short seasons, finishing on a high note, episodes not broken up for ads etc definitely make up for the small budgets. The downside of that though is you get whatever kids shows like Doctor Who being ridiculously overrated by people who like teh kitschy english ppl with their dustbin monsters.

A CLIFFHANGER?

YOU MOTHERFUCKIGN COCKSUCKING LIMEY FAGGOT BITCHASS FAGGOTS

wouldn't have been so bad if this didn't happen at 2am on a weeknight and moving on to the next ep was a viable option

yup, this show is the shit. sounds like there won't be any new episodes here in the states until next feb/march either.and apparently that Benedict Cumberbatch is suppose to voice a couple characters in the upcoming season of The Simpsons also.
