Last summer, ComingSoon.net broke the news that Jim Carrey was in discussions with Bobby and Peter Farrelly to develop a sequel to their 1994 film Dumb and Dumber. Then, in October, it was revealed that Sean Anders and John Morris had come aboard to provide the screenplay. Today, at the junket for he and his brother's latest, The Three Stooges, Peter Farrelly says that not only is Dumb and Dumber 2 coming, it's set to begin production later this year.

"We're getting set to shoot 'Dumb and Dumber 2' in September," he says. "It's the first sequel we've ever done and we've got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back."

"We did not do 'Dumb and Dumberer,'" he continues. "That was a studio thing. So we've always wanted to do a sequel and finally Jim called up. Jeff always wanted to do it. We always wanted to do it. Jim was busy, but he called and said, 'We've got to do this thing again.' He had just watched 'Dumb and Dumber' and he said, 'This is the perfect sequel. Let's do it.'"

Farrelly brothers haven't made a funny movie in like ten years. It's been about that long for Carrey too, right? Would be amazing if done right, but I don't exactly have high hopes for this shit.

I thought Yes Man was pretty funny. Probably in the minority on that though.

Yeah this is a big bag of Do Not Want.
Sad that it takes Jim Carrey's career to go totally in the tank for him to sign up for this.
And Dumb and Dumberer was absolutely terrible, although Eric Olsen's Carrey impression was pretty spot-on.

According to sources, Carrey grew increasingly frustrated by New Line and Warner Brothers, who he felt showed a lack of enthusiasm regarding the project.

A sentiment seemingly reinforced by a statement exclusively obtained when ETOnline reached out to the actor's publicist for comment. In addition to confirming the story, Carrey exclusively tells ETOnline, "I would have thought Dumb and Dumber To was a no-brainer, after all it's implied in the title."

Well without Carrey, this doesn't have anything going for it.

i'm so annoyed that they're even considering a sequel. the original was genius and theres no way they're gonna duplicate it. just leave it the fuck alone.

Good flick. Really slept on and basically forgotten. IIRC it didn't even get a theatrical release in the states (could def be wrong on that tho).
