Sons of Anarchy Season 5 Thread

Post by Jayou Ayen »

They've been running those stupid ass commercials non-stop on FX, two more weeks before we're back up in this bitch.
SOA is a show I love to complain about. For all the good things about the series, there is an equal amount of crap.
To me it's basically a live action version of GI Joe, and I'm mostly fine with that.

It wasn't until the 20th time I'd seen the preview commercial that I remembered about the CIA bullshit in last season's finale.
Doesn't bother me as much as it should, on account of season 3 being a complete piece of shit.
I was hoping they'd focus on the existing issues of the Sons inner circle, but Sepinwall reported that Chuck Zito has been added to the cast.
That shitty fuck actually sued Sutter and FX back in the day about the show, and now he's on it?
It'd be nice if Juice's dilemma got resolved or dropped, it was really out of place and dealt with poorly.
Just mostly interested in seeing what Opie does about Clay killing his dad.

The emotionally thick promo in which Jax careens off the bridge to avoid obliterating Jemma leads me to believe that she (Jemma) will be a saboteur to any of Jax's plans for retaliation, escape, or accumulation of power (not unlikely given this show's history and seasonal arcs).

I, too, doubted I would watch it as religiously as I had in previous seasons. Don't misunderstand me: I knew I would be viewing it this upcoming season on the HEAVY FLOW, but I figured I'd catch it On Demand and if I lost track, whatever. Then I saw the aforementioned promo and it was all I could do to hold back the tears.

Not feeling the fact that danny trejo is an undercover. I too wanted the last season to just focus on the club.

More highly questionable casting choices:

What would Joel McHale look like as part of the biker gang world?

Here’s your first look.

The Community star is joining FX’s hit drama Sons of Anarchy in the upcoming season for a multi-episode arc, and The Hollywood Reporter has a first look image of McHale on the show.

As THR previously reported, McHale will play Warren, a con man who double-crosses the wrong person.

And who could that wrong person be? Well, from the looks of this exclusive photo, it could be a member of the Sons because they are standing awfully close to McHale.

McHale isn't the only new face on the this season. Ashley Tisdale will guest star as a high-priced escort, and former NYPD Blue star Jimmy Smits will play Neron ‘Nero’ Padilla, a gang member who influences the members of SAMCRO. (Smits can be seen in the background of the above photo.)

Not gonna dismiss it yet til I see it. Looks odd for funny man McHale to do this but whatever. We'll see what happens.

Kinda feel the same way. Inclined to dismiss but know that it'll be hard to follow through unless I have another show to take its place.

What the fuck.

I mean, I like Joel and all, but...no.
At the very least him and Chuck should not be allowed to be in scenes together.

Sons of Anarchy‘s Sept. 11 season premiere appraches and FX has unleashed a sew of new clips including “Nero” shows how close Jimmy Smits’ character Nero Padilla, an OG gangbanger, gets with Katey Sagal’s Gemma — and how far Gemma and Clay (Ron Perlman) are from reuniting.

Sons of Anarchy creator, Kurt Sutter, must have become pretty chummy with some of the real-life members of Hells Angels since he has cast another of the badass bikers to play a part in the show’s fifth season.

Even though last season had the biggest piece of shit ending, I'll still be watching and be entertained. I look forward to seeing how many more time the Sons can get shot from close range and end up with minor shoulder wounds and such.

I stayed away from the Sons threads because I was catching up. The whole CIA thing was kinda weak and almost seemed thrown in last minute. Either way, season 4 was thoroughly entertaining. Can't wait to see how this shapes up.

Piney was my Bodie of this show.

The thing about McHale being good or bad for the show is the thing about actors/actresses who usually act one certain way in their past works. He's usually the funny normal guy on Community and the sarcastic critic on Soup so him being sleazy criminal has the possibility to work right. I just know with some actors/actresses whenever do something outside whatever genre of acting they're good at, it may not be a good fit.

Meh. I wasn't crazy impressed with the episode. I mean, it was alright, I guess. but nothing really amazing. Tigs acting when they torched his daughter was pretty fucking awful as well. I'm usually the biggest SOA stan but this one just wasn't doing shit for me. Ah well. maybe the next one will be better. hopefully.

Banger.

That Tig shit was brutal.

Although it is overplayed, Clay replacing Piney in every literal sense is fitting.

Jax & Tara are still gay.

Dude from Oz is mad thuggish.

The worst scene was Jax confronting Trejo and basically trying to play him like some underling biker crew. The Mexicans would annihilate his whole crew in the blink of an eye.

I think the big problem is that the dynamics of the characters' relationships are all fucked up right now. In order to make this show last forever (3 more years), they gotta put shit on the back burner. Things we want to see resolved aren't going to be. Instead we got Gemma sleeping with spics and dyking out, Jax masterminding cartel and government operations (when he can't run his own fucking club), and Tara flip flopping as the storyline requires (and you guys love to give Skylar shit?).

The Tig's daughter scene was :ohsh: , I did not see that coming.
It would have been much more effective at the end of the episode though. As Odie said, the way they played Tig's reaction didn't seem right to me. Dude should've been trying to tear his own arms off to get to his daughter. A few tears after the fact doesn't cut it.

I know Leroy is black, so his character is of no value, but that was a weak ass way to kill him off. No screen time, and insinuating that he was a pussy? Foul.

They better show more internal fallout from Clay admitting to killing Piney. I thought it was ballsy for them to bring it out into the open, considering how much this show is about secrets. But I want to see more than dirty looks, and Juice finding a new confidant.

While Tig's daughter's fate is unspeakable, he knew with certainty that he was responsible for what happened to her.

I think that's why his reaction was underplayed because, as horrible as it was, he'd already accepted it as she burned. His only reason to live now is vengeance. I'm not even sure his other living daughter matters to him. There's no way someone that crazy can see something like that and go on living. And it was smart of the show to play it that way.

I'm calling Juice and Tig dead. I called Juice dead last season, too, but this season seems more fitting.

Any theories on why dude with the peg leg was putting a beating on Unser and (presumably) the other Sons affiliates?

Unser gave up the warrant info to Jax and Pope (dude from Oz) knows Unser is the only one who would have tipped him.

But the peg leg dude is an ex Nomad who just got patched in. The fuck are him and(again, presumably) the other nomads doing beating down Sons affiliates? Are you saying you think they're working for Pope? Also, Chuck Zito (one of the aforementioned nomads) was also in OZ, so calling anyone "dude from OZ" is kind of confusing, even though I understood you. Could cause confusion.
