Zero Dark Thirty (Dir. Katherine Bigelow)
I could see this being great, especially after Hurt Locker

Re: Zero Dark Thirty (Dir. Katherine Bigelow)
Not a "hater"; I like when Guy Pearce gets blasted in the beginning. I've seen The Hurt Locker way more than is probably normal/healthy when Showtime was running it like every single day.
It gets worse with repeated viewings.

also love bigelow and a lot of the actors involved here, hence i'm optimistic

drizzle mostly got a good sense of whats good my dude im agreeing with emp on this one
my boy did years overseas in the middleeast. son said the whole film was garbage
because they didnt have elite bomb squad units in iraq. straight fiction.
this looks cut from the same cloth so fuck it.

From what I heard on a podcast, coach Taylor goes hard in this movie
Re: Zero Dark Thirty (Dir. Katherine Bigelow)
I think this looks like it could be pretty damn good, Bigelow has proved herself more than capable in the past.
I'm in.
100% on Rotten Tomatoes, I think I'll roll with them over the questionable naysayers in this thread.

Pretty low quality though, no way I could play it on the tv, shit would look like a NES game.alpha wrote:and the screener is out before it even hits theaters. gotta love oscar season.

Re: Zero Dark Thirty (Dir. Katherine Bigelow)
Some quick thoughts.
1. Great casting. Jason Clarke is one my new fav actors after his work on this lawless and the Chicago Code.
2. Jessica Chastain really does body her role. The praise is well desevered.
3. The movie itself is pretty amazing. There's some time jumps but nothing I thought was really out of line as far as continuity
4. Anyone expecting lots of action. Sorry.. More than hurt locker but not an action movie.
On first view I like this more than hurt locker

Re: Zero Dark Thirty (Dir. Katherine Bigelow)
Saw this last night in the theater and my primary observation: WAY TOO LONG; Bigelow did nothing with the bulk of it (nh @ "bulk of it"). Most of the characters could have just as easily been replaced by roof shingles.
Should have been handled (nh @ "been handled") by Ridley Scott.
If this wins an Oscar I have no faith in American Cinema.

liked it. liked it lots. gotta go trudge through the snow after that last half hour

--didn't feel too long at all. thought it would, but didn't mind the length by any means
--chastains aight, but this is the third, i think, movie i've seen her in and she's always just aight in myeyes while everyone else seems to be dazzled by her performances. don't quite get it
-- would love for clarke & coach to do some more shit together. the 'we don't know what we don't know' ''what the fuck is that supposed to mean'' bit was so good. clarke mumbling about 'the shaolin and the wu tang may be dangerous' while assisting a prisoner to his waterboarding was worthy of rewind. like those dudes
--watched the screener on a 40 something inch and the majority of it looked superb. only got to looking sour when the night vision was on
