Rectify, Orphan Black, and other under the radar shows

Post by ALASKA »

Anyone watching this?

I finally dove in last night, got through the first two episodes. Really enjoyed it. Thought it was pretty beautiful, did a great job capturing what I imagine something like this would feel like.

Loved the way they used music.

speaking of music, anyone know where I can get a track listing of songs they used?

I've been wanting to watch Rectify but I always forget about it when looking for something to watch. I don't get Sundance in HD, so I never recorded it. I do have Sundance HD on demand, though, but I never think about it when looking for something to watch. This thread shall serve as a reminder and I will get to it post haste.
I did read that the show was picked up for a second season. I just assumed it was a mini-series like Top of the Lake, which was excellent.

As for Orphan Black, I can't vouch if it's better than Rectify but I fucking love that show. I think it's the best show that no one has heard of. It also has been renewed.

it is pretty solid through two episodes, slow as shit, it feels like being down south in the summer it is so slow. But it is dope, well shot, terrific acting, great music, abigal spencer is real nice to look at.

I have wanted to check out Top of the Lake, maybe I will netflix it.

As for Orphan Black, whats that stuff? I saw the commercials during my Luther catch up and few weeks dabbling in the disappointing Copper.

It's a show that reveals what it's truly about in the opening scene of the third episode. Many people were already spoiled before the pilot aired since previews gave it away. I went in blind and loved it. Shouldn't take away your enjoyment either way, it's a great show. I'll give you a non-spoiler synopsis.

It takes place in Canada about a troubled woman who witnesses a woman who looks exactly like her take her own life by jumping in front of a train. The troubled woman has the brilliant idea of assuming the now deceased woman’s identity. Big mistake! The dead woman had more troubles than she could possibly have conceived.
That's just the opening scene of the pilot. It gets crazier from there.

There's only 2 episodes left, tonights and next Saturday.

Next Saturday BBC America will be marathoning the entire season beginning at noon edt. I highly recommend checking it out. The pilot is also currently free to watch on iTunes.

orphan black finale was crazy good. ia lot of what coulda been deemed boring in the first few episodes made up here. t'll be said in the first line of anyone ever talking about this show, but Tatiana Maslany murrdered this shit harder than i ever recall a female drama lead murdering. she was fucking outstanding.

plan to start retcify next, gonna take a few days
but should this thread be a catch all for shows no one knows about
the fall starring gillian anderson i want to see, currently airing on bbca but is already up on netflix
in the flesh just started the other nightbut i wanna see
top of the lake fits cause i don't think enough people have seen it
while we're at it, terriers, man
terriers.

I'm making an Orphan Black Season 2 thread next year. That show deserves some recognition. Tatiana is so damned worthy of an Emmy and Golden Globe. I hope she at least gets nominated.

I started out watching Orphan Black. It was good but I lost track of it when I kept watching other shows out there like Rogue. Recitfy is that sci-fi show, right? I think I saw th first episode and the same thing applies, no time for it.

There was some show that someone brought up on here that was called something like Rectify. Can't remember the name of it now. Still I'll give Rectify a shot.

Well, maybe Tatiana does have a chance at winning an award. Last night she won a Critic's Choice award for best actress in a drama series.

Anyone else watch Falling Skies? I don't know why I do but always seem to watch it. I don't remember if these new aliens where introduced last season or not. Maybe it will spice it up a bit.
