Surprised to say but Lee. Bay and Boyle got a few classics and a load of gack, Anderson, Tarantino and Abrams a bit less gack than that, Del Toro a bit more less but Lees just got too many joints b

Between Del Toro and Tarantino for me. Haven't seen Pacific Rim yet, but I think I have to go with Tarantino here.

He's certainly not the best but QT makes the most consistently entertaining movies of the bunch.

GDT. He has made some foreign movies, which I probably wouldn't even give a second glance, a second glance.

I am amazed tho' at how much love QT is getting here. Do not let that imply I don't like him, just saying that it seems alot of shit gets talked about him.

im surprised this is even a poll. if you removed QT it may be close(r)

some good ass directors on the list but only QT and PTA would be the two I'd go to see whatever they made, regardless of whether the trailer, hype, press, etc had me sold on the movie. Some of the others have made some suspect movies over the years.

5 years ago, I never thought I'd say that Punch-Drunk Love and There Will Be Blood hold up better for me than all QT movies except Jackie Brown. QT movies are a lot of fun tho (faint praise)

if PTA is your favorite director I think it says a lot about you and not in a good way. no doubt he's good but c'mon.

if you were to make the argument that PTA is the better director, fine. in fact he's a helluva director. but to say you enjoy movies made by him over QT or anyone else on the list is comparable to liking shitty food at an expensive restaurant just because it's expensive. in a word it's pretentious.

Has the been a director in the history of film how is worse at ending movies than Spike lee? I pretty much like 2/3's of every Spike Lee movie until he ferociously shits the bed in the final act.

Do The Right Things got one of the greatest endings ever imo. I cant remember being too fussed about the others but Ive never felt too strongly about neat endings, at least not if theyre more about atmosphere or whatever.

Even He Got Game which was mostly weak as piss had a good ending I thought.

spike and pt anderson are great directors but tarantino is his own genre.
look at this lineup and please tell me what you cant unquestioningly rate at least an 8/10
2012 Django Unchained
2009 Inglourious Basterds
2007 Death Proof
(2005 Sin City car scene)
2004 Kill Bill: Vol. 2
2003 Kill Bill: Vol. 1
1997 Jackie Brown
1994 Pulp Fiction
1992 Reservoir Dogs

Everything after Jackie Brown bar Sin City. From Dusk Til Dawn and True Romance are great too. Its trendy now to not like QT but I dont hate all of the later ones, theyre mostly just solid.

not his fault but hes responsible for some of the most unbearable cunts out - Guy Ritchie, Kevin Smith, Eli Roth

like him or now, QT is by far the most influential movie director of the last 20 years. not the best, but undeniably instrumental in shaping tastes for an entire generation and a huge influence on how movies are now approached and appreciated.

and while you can def critique the shit out of his own catalog, the vast majority of it is awesomely entertaining and has great replay value

that was re: people puzzled by why he's running away with this so thoroughly.

and yea you could say the same about pac or kanye, and in an analogous rapper poll they would likely similarly run away with the votes

He got games ending is one of the worst ever. He throws the ball over the prison wall and it bounces into the gym where ray allen is shooting. SYMBULIZM IZ DEEP.

Do the right thing did end well though. Inside man ended decently too, if I recall. But pretty much every other one just either flew of the rails or got incredibly corny and heavy handed. Have you seen Girl 6? holy shit...the last hour of that is a nightmare.
