Brooklyn Nine-Nine
anyone else watching this shit? I just watched the first five episodes and its pretty amusing.
Sepinwall compared it to the first season of Parks & Rec and I can see the similarities....its from the same creators and it seems like once they iron out the kinks/figure out the characters it is going to be a pretty funny show.
Pretty great cast, Sandberg's doing the heavy lifting right now but Joe Lo Truglio, dude from Homicide, Terry Crews, that wierd nosed chick that Louie went on a date with in season 1...plus some rele saucy little hispanic chick.
I'm in for the season at least.

Watched the first ep, cast is the greatest (only got put up on chelsea peretti recently, shes the shit. the soccer mom character>>>)
I remember first season of parks&rec being kinda poor but idk, this seemed weak as fuck, might rough it out now knowing its the same people

Re: Brooklyn Nine Nine
i'm down for the season. it's been improving, last ep t-crews got some more shine and the partner lady delivered some comedy dog competently. joe la trugs pretty perfect for what he's been doing. first season p&r is spot on, tho from what i recall this has probably been better out the gate. saucy latina is real aprily

Re: Brooklyn Nine Nine
peretti got a big butt & for some reason the line from the allstate dude last ep about the 2% being 'the hardest to get, that's why they keep in in the milk' has really stuck with me

Re: Brooklyn Nine Nine
started slow and has gotten a lot better. i'm in.
Re: Brooklyn Nine Nine
I'm into it. Peretti is the shit so I'm biased.

Re: Brooklyn Nine Nine
Actually if anyone is April is Peretti (outsider who pretends to hate everyone). The P&R parallels don't stop there.... Main character who annoys the shit out of everyone but is actually good at their job, Homicide dude has a ton of the Swanson stoicism, there's even an office punching bag like Jerry (Scully).LilLeftBrain wrote:saucy latina is real aprily
He is Ryan O'Reilly, first and foremost.LilLeftBrain wrote:for some reason the line from the allstate dude last ep about the 2% being 'the hardest to get, that's why they keep in in the milk' has really stuck with me

Re: Brooklyn Nine Nine
this show fucking rules
all the characters are vulnerable and likeable but also ridiculous enough to be caricatures in a way that just gets tons of laughs
and i never knew samberg's comedic timing/physical comedy could carry a show as a lead but shit, he is getting the job done

yeah, you can tell they are trying to tone down Samberg's obnoxiousness though, and its a better show for it.
Craig Robinson cameo was fucking great.

Re: Brooklyn Nine Nine
Absolutely. Everything Mike Schur has been involved with is kinda atypical for standard network comedy in that the leads (Michael Scott, Leslie Knope, Jake Peralta) aren't just the straight men, and balancing them being clearly comedic leads without also venturing out into too bizarre/supporting-character craziness is always a challenge it seems. Brooklyn 99 has definitely gotten better at figuring that balance out, b/c it was way off in the first handful of episodes.Tommy Bunz wrote:yeah, you can tell they are trying to tone down Samberg's obnoxiousness though, and its a better show for it.
Re: Brooklyn Nine Nine
I think they're really letting the secondary characters get a lot of shine, which is a great thing
Re: Brooklyn Nine Nine
Terry Crews as the gentle and psycho yet overly cautious cop is consistently the funniest shit to me on that show.

what super bowl episode? You mean the chiefs birthday party?
Re: Brooklyn Nine Nine
"The Party" was last night. After the SuperBowl there was a new episode that folllowed New Girl. It was a very funny episode, too. Had some great cameo appearances.Tommy Bunz wrote:what super bowl episode? You mean the chiefs birthday party?

Re: Brooklyn Nine Nine
Oh shit okay now I get it. Super bowl episode just means episode after the Super Bowl, not that the episode had anything to do with the actual game. I saw the Sandler one, was pretty damn good.
