Before The Raid, they made a short proof of concept video for a movie called Berendal which was meant as a follow up to Merentau. Berendal was supposed to be about Iko being in jail. I'm not sure what happened but they made The Raid instead. So I think now they're trying to link that concept into The Raid universe

Cast announced for Berandal. Check @THERAIDMOVIE for a full rundown, for now I want to talk a bit about Julie Estelle as Hammer Girl… We were on the look out for a Female fighter that could put an end to the sausage fest that was The Raid. The audition process was brutal. Normally when we cast fighters they have a 30mins session to show us what they can do, punches, kicks, reactions etc. For Hammer Girl I had to be absolutely certain 100% before making a decision. So the audition lasted 5 days. For the first 4 days it was a 3hr training session to get to grips with the choreography. Then on day 5 the final audition - the full scene. Julie doesn’t come from a martial arts background and truthfully on day 1 I wasn’t sure she would pick it up in time. But she worked crazy hard - recording every day of practice so she could analyze and learn the moves ready for the next day. By day 5 she was so sharp and precise that I had footage I would have happily put in the final cut of the film. Since then she has trained daily w/ us to fine tune her style & learn the choreography inside out. Can’t wait to get this shot & out there. Oh ya and for anyone not following her yet Alicia “Hammer Girl” is found here @Julstelle (Julie Estelle) be nice folks!
