aaaaaaaannnnd they fucking nailed that finale.

Couldn't see how they were gonna have everyone in anvil die, but I'm clapping my forehead not realizing how obvious that was, and poetic.

Loved the montage of everyone's reaction to losing all faith in God and then the universe wipes the slate clean

Great how they kept arseface out of the town, how they introduced the Saint of killers, tied up the loose ends and then set them on their way.

Pretty wild that they stretched and inflated and essentially turned the 1st 25 page book into a whole tv season.

the only characters the entire story follows in the book are Jesse, Tulip, Cassidy. The recurring side characters are the Cowboy, Eugene, and to an extent the angels. i was surprised they spent so much time in tha town, as none of those characters were in the book / play an important role in the overall arc of the story whatsoever.

in the book:
most of the town dies as soon genesis enters jesse custer because the church just kind of explodes and he's the only one to survive. the only character that has any sort of importance at all from that town in the sheriff, and that's really only cuz it's Eugene's dad.

i went pretty in depth about his backstory a few posts back on page 2, this is more of his roll in the story so beware if you want to learn as you watch:
the cowboy is "The Saint Of Killers." Essentially the guy that took over for the Angel of Death collecting souls. his guns are made from steel of an angel's sword and can never miss their target, so i'm sure he will be responsible for a lot of cool kills throughout the show. he's basically the ever-present bad guy in the book. as jesse and the gang go out looking to find and confront god, the SOK is pursuing them the whole time because the angels have told him to kill genesis / jesse. so the gang has to find god and avoid SOK at every turn.
