Re: X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)
Decided to re-watch First Class again last night because of this thread, Its really good but still think I like both of Singer's versions best. I think part of the problem is I didn't read the comics so I don't give a fuck about most of the supporting mutants like Havoc and shit, the mutants I grew up with are the ones from the cartoon series. Plus the makeup work for Beast is way worse than the Kelsey Grammar version and for some reason the whole stopping the Cuban Missile crisis climax comes off weak. I feel like Vaughn completely whiffs on the big emotional moments....Mystique leaving Professor X for Magneto at the end should be this huge moment but it comes off as a mild plot point.
Still really like it but:
X2
X1
First Class
Last Stand/Wolverine
Origins: Wolverine (not a good movie but not a bad one either, said this a million times but Liev Schreiber's Sabretooth is the best character in the entire franchise, and he makes the movie super-rewatchable for me)

Good point. I hope in all these continuity fixes they claim to be doing with the upcoming Xfilms they find a way to bring him back. He was great.Tommy Bunz wrote:Liev Schreiber's Sabretooth is the best character in the entire franchise

dead ass, the most memorable portrayal of the bunch. such a shame it's in the worst movie.Tommy Bunz wrote: Liev Schreiber's Sabretooth is the best character in the entire franchise
i'd honestly rather see a lowkey sabertooth movie with Shreiber than another multi-movie arc. I feel there's a much greater chance of success for the former and as many have pointed out too much for them to fuck up in the latter (especially if they focus on Age of Apocalypse).
But with that said it's not like i'm not gonna watch whatever they make either way

Whenever I see will.i.am, I hear the words "They made us hunt our own kind, Logan!"
What a terrible, terrible film.

From what I remember about the portrayal of Gambit, it may be a good thing his involvement was kept to a minimum.

Re: X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)
Wow, but figures. Origins is my favorite of all of them. First Class is best of them. But none of them are re-watchable.
Re: X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)
Earlier this year, X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner said that she wanted to see the mutant Gambit back on screen, and she wanted Channing Tatum to play the role. She explained that she was “dying to do a Gambit movie” with Tatum, and it was just a matter of getting the studio on board. A month ago, Tatum said he had met with Donner and would love to play the role because he’s a huge fan of the character. However, there was still the question of whether or not it would all come together.
Now it’s sounding like Tatum is officially signed on to play the card-slinging cajun. Hit the jump for more.
gambit-comicOn the red carpet for X-Men: Days of Future Past, Donner was asked by Total Film if Tatum was confirmed to play Gambit, and she said, “Yes.” Donner then went on to explain why she saw Tatum as the popular character:
“Well you know he’s a rogue, Channing. He’s a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau, and he can handle the action, we all know that. He’s got a really good heart, because I know him personally, I did a movie with him. So I think he’ll be great, he’ll be great for Gambit, and he’s a southerner too, he’s not from New Orleans but he is a southerner and he understands that world, and you know Gambit loves New Orleans.”
But will this be for the Gambit standalone movie that Donner wanted? If Tatum is really on board and Gambit is coming back, I think we’ll probably see him in X-Men: Apocalypse since Singer has said he wants to the character in the movie along with Nightcrawler. If Tatum’s take on Gambit is popular with audiences, then a follow-up standalone movie is more likely.
Re: X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)
All the talk from producers and potential actors about making more X-Men movies and spinoffs for fan-favorite characters isn’t just talk anymore. If Twentieth Century Fox didn’t get catch the attention of X-Men movie fans by announcing X-Men: Apocalypse for 2016 even before X-Men: Days of Future Past hit theaters last summer, then they sure did with the surprise announcement a few short months ago that Deadpool would also come in 2016.
Now they’re driving the point home by also confirming a Gambit spinoff for Channing Tatum. And the the best part is, Gambit is also coming in 2016. That’s right, we now have three X-Men movies coming in 2016. That’s more than Disney/Marvel Studios, more than Warner Bros./DC Entertainment and more than Sony for the year.
The character of Gambit (real name: Remy LeBeau) was introduced in Fox’s first attempt at an X-Men solo character spinoff, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but the creative team ignored some of the most iconic traits of the character – most notably, his unique Cajun accent. He was played by Taylor Kitsch but it’s clear that going forward, the studio is pretending that movie didn’t happen.
Like the other X-Men character, Gambit is a mutant. He possesses the powers of controlling kinetic and potential energy through touch. He can ‘charge’ up objects and cause them to explode, using a deck of playing cards and a staff as his signature weapons. Gambit’s also a formidable martial artist who also has the ability to charm people, hence his womanizing ways.
The Gambit character quickly became a fan-fave in the early ’90s thanks to his key role in the animated X-Men cartoon on Fox which came quickly after his introduction in Marvel Comics in 1990.
Rumors and reports that Channing Tatum would be playing Gambit for the X-Men franchise began a year ago after conversations between him and X-Men franchise producer Lauren Shuler Donner began an endless cycle of questions on the topic in interviews with either ever since. We even spoke to Channing Tatum about the character’s accent and abilities while he was promoting 22 Jump Street. Now it’s finally happening and a script is already in the works by Joshua Zetumer (RoboCop) which is based off a treatment by Chris Claremont.
Here’s the full schedule of upcoming X-Men films officially dated thus far:
Deadpool - February 12, 2016
X-Men: Apocalypse - May 27, 2016
Gambit - October 7, 2016
Wolverine 3 - March 3, 2017
Untitled X-Men Movie - July 13, 2018
Inevitably sharing the same cinematic space will be the rebooted Fantastic Four series which begins this summer and had its sequel just move up slightly, alongside the announcement of Gambit.
The Fantastic Four - August 7, 2015
Fantastic Four 2 - June 2, 2017
Given the release date, it’s a safe bet both Ryan Reynolds and Channing Tatum will at least show up in X-Men: Apocalypse, if for nothing else than cross-promotion. After all, Apocalypse is being touted as the franchise’s biggest film ever and it’s too good of an opportunity not to include the characters worthy enough of a standalone films that same year.
Re: X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)

opportunist casting.
he's hot right now, and X-Men is hot again too.
X-Men is Police, Tatum is Cops. Police. Cops. POLICE COPS.
who cares that he's like 30 pounds too heavy? not anyone who knows what Gambit actually looks like

Josh Holloway is not a good enough actor for his own movie. Strictly a TV guy for me.

No embed code, but not the best bootleg either. Get it while it's hot and crooked!
Looking forward to the actual trailer. Pretty awesome from the way it appears though.

Those costumes always look way cheesier in print I feel.
Didn't realize Munn was in this, don't know how I feel about that, she's hot but pretty much sucks in everything.
Did anyone watch the Rogue Cut of Days of Future Past yet?
I downloaded but haven't gotten around to it.

I was super pumped for the Ivan Ooze crossover and liked how he was rebooted, but then I found out it was Apocalypse.

Its a 17 minute longer cut, about half of which supposedly focuses on Paquin's Rogue, and also further develops the Beast/Mystique relationship.drizzle wrote:what is the Rogue cut exactly, saw it on the DL site but didn't bother to google
