This aroused my interest in the movie. The gender-warriors of the internet seem divided on the issue, however. The Guardian, for one, loves it.

But of course the reviewer is male, so I'm not sure what to think.

I hear there is a dyke out scene that it's extremely boner inducing. Aside from that, I know nothing about it.

I have seen a ridiculous amount of lesbian-themed movies. Most recently Brian de Palma's Passion, which I enjoyed a fair bit.

Its been funny to follow the reactions to this movie, though. Some people are offended that the lesbianism isn't lesbian enough, while others, mostly straight people, cream themselves over how important the film is.

None of that is in the end relevant to whether the films is any good, of course, but its amusing subtext.

Passion has been sitting in my unwatched movie pile for a while. Might have to remedy that.

It's only in the news because of the its rating, sex scene, and the surround circus that travels with these kinds of spectacles. The American media only picked up on it because a few movie theaters in NY and LA were going to allow minors to see it without a parent's permission.
