I hope this is good. It debuts April 15 on FX.

It has Billy Bob Thorton, Martin Freeman, Colin Hanks, Bob Odenkirk, etc.

"In 2006, a drifter named Lorne Malvo (Billy Bob Thornton) arrives in Bemidji, Minnesota and influences the population with his malice and violence, including put-upon insurance salesman Lester Nygaard (Martin Freeman)."

was skeptical when i saw the posters on the side of the bus, but after watching that trailer and reading up on it a bit, i'm looking forward to it. has potential. initial reviews seem positive, coens themselves signed off on it (that doesn't mean much)

Cautiously interested, even though I pretty much hate this trend of turning classic movies into TV series

It was good imo. The last hour was great and Billy Bob was the high point for me. I thought the first 35-30 minutes was kind of boring and they definitely lost all the "Coen" that was in Fargo. The directing/camera work/writing that they had in the movie was definitely lost. It was hard to tell if they were even trying to duplicate any of it.

I thought it was going to be disappointed after the first half but the last half definitely saved it and has me hooked now.

Was good. Obviously not the Coen Bros. quality, but I felt it did a good job of maintaining the dark humor elements from the movie

i watched the first half and fell asleep...but is this based off the movie plot-wise? seemed like similar characters but different crime scheme.

edit: nevermind, just watched the rest. plot not like movie at all. i liked this first episode though.

I liked this a lot. It takes place 10 years after the movie. It was cool that it continued with the based on a true story theme, even though the movie was complete fiction, as is the show.

Supposedly this is like True Detective, in that it's only planned for one season. Any possible future seasons will have a new cast of characters.

martin freeman and billy bob both killed this. very interested to see how they draw out the suspense/plot over an entire season. felt like the pilot got us about 75% through the narrative already.

I'm watching this simultaneously with the BBC show Sherlock, and he plays Watson. In both series, he really nails the awkward/uneasy character.
