Shows You Watch That No One Talks about on Here
Some shows are thread worthy, while others just don't have enough interest to get people talking about them. Whether they're reality based, nightly talk shows, or some obscure foreign show, list what you're viewing.
Here's what I'm watching:
Gang Related - Debut season wrapped up last night. I have no idea if Fox will be renewing it. It's basically a network version of The Shield. Even has 2 actors from that show (Dutch and Sofer). I thought people would be talking about it on here because RZA is a main character. It's not a great show by any means, but I stuck with it.
Extant - Steven Spielberg's futuristic show with Halle Berry playing an astronaut who has just come back to earth after spending 13 months in space on a solo mission. She returns to her husband and robotic son, unknowingly pregnant, as a part of some experiment done on her without her permission. She's constantly on the run from the NASA-like organization who wants to control her. The main guy who authorized the experiment is the same guy who plays the senator on Rectify, so, I get to see him play a villain twice a week.
The Honourable Woman - British mini-series starring Maggie Gyllenhaal. As a child, her and her brother witnessed the murder of their father, a prominent Jewish arms dealer. Now an adult, she's inherited the company, while at the same time trying to restore peace between Isreal and Palestine. There's a lot of mysteries and back stories that are covered. It's pretty good.
Whose Line Is It Anyway? - Ever since this show came to The CW, I've watched every episode. Aisha Tyler is a great host and the show is still as funny as the original British series. They do seem to do a lot of the same bits a little too much, though.
Real Time with Bill Maher - I basically get my weekly political news from watching this show.
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver - I only knew John Oliver from his role as Professor Duncan on Community. This HBO show gets compared to The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, neither of which I have never seen. Funny show!
Friday Night Dinner - Just started this show last week. 8 episodes in and I'm loving it. Two brothers, both in their early 20's, go home to their parent's house for dinner every Friday night. Some sort of crazy antics happens each week.

I also watch John Oliver. When he misses it is terrible, but when he hits it is great. I also started watching "Jonah from tonga" which is pretty funny.
Re: Shows You Watch That No One Talks about on Here
I binged on the netflix anime knights of Sidonia and was quite impressed.
Also watched the final season of the killing. I still hate myself.

BBC 2 (I think) show called Peaky Blinders. Starts Cillian Murphy. It's about gangs in post WW1 Birmingham. Only a couple of episodes into season 1, but it's proved to be a good watch.

Re: Shows You Watch That No One Talks about on Here
I thought the show redeemed itself for season 3. Too late for most people, who gave up after season 1. I haven't started season 4 yet, but plan to, even though I don't think I've read one positive thing about it. It's only 6 episodes, I'll suffer through it.alpha wrote:Also watched the final season of the killing. I still hate myself.
Re: Shows You Watch That No One Talks about on Here
FX has a new show called "Marriage" that's about 5 episodes deep and is actually really funny and fairly dark.

Gomorrah. Crime drama based in Naples. Based on a book. They made a film based on the same book a few years back. Only 2 eps in but it's great.

I think "You're the worst", which is shares an hour block with, is actually the funnier of the two shows, although Married has been good too.
Some others:
Tyrant (not great, but totally watchable)
The Bridge (better than it was last year, when we actually did discuss it here iirc)
Masters of sex (Naked Lizzy Caplan most weeks > most things on TV)
Random reality shit that you don't need to see every ep to follow like Bar Rescue, Jail/cops/whatever the Swat team one is called/Gangland, Party down South, the Dave Navaro tattoo show, etc. There's mad enjoyable shitty TV on in the summer.

gave "you're the worst" a chance and gave up on it. honestly don't think either will make it past a 2nd season though.907 wrote:intuition wrote:FX has a new show called "Marriage" that's about 5 episodes deep and is actually really funny and fairly dark.

Penny Dreadful. I think the show is slept on. Not incredible, but well done.
Re: Shows You Watch That No One Talks about on Here
I don't have a DVR setting for it or anything, but I'll watch it when it's on and I'm bored. It's half funny half sad to see people get popped who might as well be the exact same folks hitting me up for a dollar every day on my way to work already drunk at 9 AM. I think it's a lil' disrespectful how they give em the on screen translation too, motherfuckers ain't THAT hard to understand. I see them do it for super hood ass black dudes on Cops too, but have yet to see them do it with a white person, no matter how hard their hick ass it to understand.Larry2times wrote:You watch Alaska State Troopers? Pawn Stars & Pawnography
Re: Shows You Watch That No One Talks about on Here
Also recently watched Lillyhammer on Netflix, it's highly enjoyable and I don't know why it didn't get more buzz when it came out. It's basically Silvio Dante from The Sopranos in witness protection in Norway.

Gave Married a shot after this but kinda lost interest after the 2nd ep. The lead looks like Ed Helms.
