Bond 24: "Spectre"

Post by Truth. »

LONDON — Sam Mendes, the director of the 24th James Bond film, revealed Thursday that the movie’s title would be “Spectre,” and that the cast would include Christoph Waltz, Monica Bellucci and Lea Seydoux.

Mendes, speaking from the 007 Stage at London’s Pinewood Studios, said that alongside Daniel Craig, who plays the iconic British spy in his fourth Bond movie, returning cast would include Ralph Fiennes as M, Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny, Rory Kinnear as Bill Tanner and Ben Whishaw as Q.

The new additions are Waltz as Oberhauser, Bellucci as Lucia Sciarra, Seydoux as Madeleine Swann, Dave Bautista (“Guardians of the Galaxy”) as Mr. Hinx, and Andrew Scott (“Sherlock”) as Denbigh.

The 007 car will be the new Aston Martin DB10.

In the film, which is set for a global release on Nov. 6, 2015, a cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation, Spectre. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind Spectre.

The film, which starts principal photography Monday, will be shot over seven months at Pinewood Studios and several locations, which will include London, Rome, Tangier and Erfoud in Morocco, Mexico City, and Sölden, Obertilliach and Lake Altaussee in Austria.

The screenplay was written by John Logan, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade.

The director of photography is Hoyte van Hoytema, the editor is Lee Smith and the production designer is Dennis Gassner.

The costume designer is Jany Temime, the composer is Thomas Newman, and action specialist Alexander Witt is the 2nd unit director.

The stunt coordinator is Gary Powell, the SFX supervisor is Chris Corbould, and the visual effects supervisor is Steve Begg.

dick on swole

was hoping Deakins would do teh cinematography again but this Hoyte Van Hoyte dude did some good stuff, specifically Tinker Tailor which is pretty much the ultimate modern anti-bond spy jawnt. will be interesting if he's still gonna use the same subdued color scheme here or make it a little more colorful to suit the different tone of a more action oriented movie

Belluci as a Bond girl is a match made in boner heaven. Kinda crazy that it's taken it this long.
The cinematographer on this is the guy who just did Interstellar btw.

Happy Spectre is back. Want to see the return of volcanic bases, super structures, and armies of bad guys with smart uniforms back in the Bond universe, and not the low-brow shite we have today.

Love that Spectre is back. I hope this means the return of some gadgets as well. I hated that they removed that aspect from the last Bond.

Check out Kingsman. It's exactly what you're talking about.

He can do without the silly martial arts fight scenes.

I highly doubt Elba will be Bond in the next film. I believe Craig has one more film in his contract. Since it will be Bond 25, I think they'll make Craig's last one a big splash and save all the inevitable hype and controversy surrounding the "black bond" until Bond 26.

Elba would be a great Bond, would totally be down for that. Would be a nice update for a franchize that's been lowkey racist and mysoginist as fuck for like 40 years going.

Do you feel like Elba will address any of the sexist issues associated with the Bond franchise? Seems like it's fairly inextricable from the character...

Sexist no. And I don't think anybody expects or wants Bond to be a model of political correctness in all regards, the character is after all based on a certain orthodox and very 1%-ish archetype of masculinity and that's a big part of the fantasy world created in the series. But just having a black dude in the role is a good step away from the kinda fucked up old pulp formula of a white ubermench triumphing over ethnic baddies that drives some notable entries in the franchise.

why it’s time to kill off James Bond
The Bond film franchise has run out of ideas and is pulling its punches for fear of offending foreign governments.

[...]

The news that Mexico is giving the production of Spectre $14 million to portray the country in a positive light should horrify fans, with Craig’s Bond now fronting a franchise that has descended into the territory of Wish You Were Here. To save a fraction of the film’s budget, there is every chance that it is being softened. Bond is now pulling its punches at the behest of commercial sponsors. The writing team cannot touch real-world issues in espionage for fear of losing tax breaks, offending worldwide audiences, or failing to appeal to a key demographic. Despite the current tensions between Russia and the West, we can expect to see Bond praising the fine people of Mexico, or taking photographs of it with his Sony mobile phone. Will Bond ever return to Russia? If Putin bungs through a tax incentive, perhaps Bond will turn for the FSB. For taking money from foreign governments and swapping his ammunition for blanks, and because the series has run out of ideas, I don’t expect James Bond to improve, I expect him to die.
Whether to Jason of Philaflava or John Podesta, I will speak my fucking perspective openly

Yea I def go to Bond movies for gritty realism of foreign locales. This is a disgusting development that really makes me miss teh old days when the franchise pulled no punches in showing exotic locations that are mostly playgrounds for billionaires for the shit holes they really were.
