Which Movies Make Grown Men Cry?
After an evening at Grassroots Tavern, some friends and I got into a heated argument about “Love Actually,” which I contend is a good movie (see this Ben Dreyfuss essay for more on that). This eventually became a slightly less heated argument about which movies make people cry. The consensus was that everyone has at least one movie that gets them. The lone dissenter was my friend Alex Kaufman, who claimed he had never cried during a movie. After we listed approximately half the films on IMDb, he eventually recanted, saying that “Saving Private Ryan” had, at points, briefly broken his steely resolve. This leads us to this week’s question:
What movies make people cry the most?

^^^^^ Shit gets me open EVERY time.
Have a long history of emoting to The Muppets which stretches back to Robin The Frog's cover version of Halfway Down The Stairs.

Re: Which Movies Make Grown Men Cry?
i cry when i watch superhero movies its not a good one if i don't shed a tear
I fucking poured tears of heavenly joy when I saw the first Raimi 'Spiderman' movie, and Peter Parker was in the wrestling ring and shit
waited my whole god damn life to see that moment on the big screen
looked at some little 6 year old kid beside me and thought "you can not possibly appreciate this as deeply as I can, son!!!!"
yeah it was a shitty emotion, but :KANYESHRUG: . i gush tears of happiness or heartbreak in most comic book movies. When Jean Gray turned into Phoenix at the end of X-2 and sacrificed herself for everyone on the Blackbird? DEAD

SO many movies bring tears from the soul.
A gangsta teardrop broke out of eyeball jail when I heard the homie Anthony Mackie solemnly say "on your left" to Steve Rogers lying in the hospital bed at the end of Cap America: Winter Soldier. That made the movie a PERFECT 360 DEGREE CIRCLE to me, and I was like x x
tears are the words the mouth is too weak to say

Re: Which Movies Make Grown Men Cry?
I guess they might not count as movies, but there's more than a handful of 30 for 30's that have made me cry.

Léon - I got in prepared for crying. Still hadn't shed a tear at the very end climax but when Sting's Shape of my heart started I broke down immediately
Co-singing ric and mindbender, so many exampels when I'm jsut watching something that reverberates on such a deep level that tears start pouring, not necessarily out of sadness or any particular emotion, just something like the ultimate revelation that what you are watching is more than amazingly made/shot/etc.
I'll definitely come back with more movies after thinking back a bit but right now, I want to mention watching Mark Ruffalo nailing down every fucking movement to the last mannerism of being a wrestler in Foxcatcher
